Bajaj has been quite busy of late, bringing all its 400cc KTM, Triumph and own models down to 350cc to take advantage of the GST 2.0 regime. While the Triumphs, KTMs (except the RC 390), and even the Dominar 400 now all use 350cc engines, the Pulsar NS400Z was the last remaining piece of the puzzle. Now, it seems that even that bike has followed suit, as per information available on Bajaj’s website as of the publishing of this piece.

  1. Now makes 40.6hp and 33.2Nm, like the 350cc Dominar 400
  2. NS400Z visually and mechanically unchanged, apart from the new engine
  3. New motor delivers peak output higher up in the rev band

350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z engine specifications revealed

Engine’s stroke has changed, bore remains the same

Just like the Dominar, the biggest Pulsar now uses a 349.13cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine making 40.6hp at 9,000rpm and 33.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. This marks a drop of 2.4hp and 1.8Nm of torque compared to the most recent 373cc Pulsar NS400Z, which made 43hp in its top Sport riding mode. Peak output is also delivered higher up in the rev band, with peak power arriving 200rpm later and peak torque coming in a 1,000rpm later, suggesting that the smaller 349cc mill will have more of a peaky nature than the 373cc motor it replaces.

Speaking of the smaller engine, Bajaj has reduced the displacement from 373.27cc to 349.13cc by reducing the engine’s stroke. The new stroke is 56.1 mm, down from 60 mm previously, while the 89mm bore has been retained – just like the 350cc Dominar 400. The feature-set, visuals and other mechanical underpinnings of the 350cc Pulsar NS400Z appear to be otherwise identical to the 373cc version – just like its downsized KTM and Triumph brethren.

Currently, the Bajaj website still lists the Pulsar NS400Z at Rs 1,93,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the same price it carried before the GST 2.0 regulation came into effect. It remains to be seen if this figure changes in the coming days, and we will update this story once we receive more information. To give you some context, the Dominar 400’s price saw a whopping Rs 37,000 reduction in the transition from 373cc to 350cc.
