The Mahindra Scorpio N is the third generation of the venerable off-roader. Launched in 2022, this Mahindra SUV takes the premium quotient several notches above its utilitarian predecessor, the Scorpio Classic. The Scorpio N also stands out compared to other similarly priced mass-market SUVs because of its ladder-frame construction and advanced off-roading hardware. If you are interested in the Scorpio N, continue reading to get detailed answers to six of the most frequently asked questions about the made-in-India SUV.

What is the Mahindra Scorpio N price in India?

Rs 13.99 lakh onwards.

The Scorpio N’s ex-showroom price starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and climbs up to Rs 25.42 lakh for the fully loaded variant. As for its on-road prices, which also include road tax, insurance and other costs, the Scorpio N could cost between Rs 16.32 lakh and Rs 29.50 lakh.

Which Mahindra Scorpio N variants are available in India?

Seven trims on offer.

Ranked in ascending order, the Scorpio N comes in seven trim levels: Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 S, Z8, Z8 T and Z8 L. With the exception of the mid-spec Z6, all trims can be had with either a turbo-petrol or diesel powertrain; the Z6 is exclusively sold with the latter. The automatic transmission is offered from the Z4 trim onwards. For those seeking four-wheel drive (4WD), choices are limited to the Z4 (E), Z8, Z8 T and Z8 L variants.

Moving on, seven seats are standard, with the top-spec Z8 L offering a 6-seater configuration (featuring captain seats in the middle row) as an option. Mahindra recently introduced a Carbon Edition for the Z8 and Z8 L trims, which darkens out some of its exterior and interior parts.

How many engine options does the Mahindra Scorpio N have?

Turbo petrol and diesel mills.

Two engine choices are on offer with the Scorpio N: 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel. The mStallion petrol motor is good for 203hp and 370Nm (6-speed manual); 380Nm with the 6-speed torque converter automatic. The mHawk diesel generates 132hp and 300Nm with both transmissions. The diesel can also be had with a 4WD setup, and it is tuned to produce higher outputs of 175hp and 370Nm (MT) and 400Nm (AT) than the RWD variants.

Is the Mahindra Scorpio N good at off-roading?

Packs advanced off-road hardware.

Coming back to the Mahindra Scorpio N's off-road hardware, its 4WD system (dubbed 4Xplor) comprises a low-range gearbox, brake-locking and mechanical-locking diffs. Zip, Zap and Zoom drive modes, or Eco, Normal and Sport, respectively, are solely on offer with the Scorpio N diesel models.

We got to test the Scorpio N's 4WD system at an off-road course created by the Mahindra Adventure team and came away impressed. Generous ground clearance and a claimed 500mm water-wading capacity from the SUV specialist serve as an icing on the cake.

What features are offered with the Mahindra Scorpio N?

18-inch alloys wheels, sunroof, ventilated front seats.
