10. Honda Elevate
Honda dealerships are offering the Elevate with a Lovato CNG kit for Rs 1 lakh, which includes the kit warranty of 3 years/1,20,000km. The kit is only offered on select trims, such as V and VX, and can be had with both manual and continuously variable transmission (CVT) variants.
According to dealer sources, the Elevate CNG’s power output is comparable to that of the Elevate petrol. The latter uses a 121hp 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, mated to either a 6-speed MT or a CVT. The Honda Elevate MT is priced from Rs 12.23 lakh to Rs 13.92 lakh, while the CVT variants are priced from Rs 13.40 lakh to Rs 15.10 lakh. These prices do not include the cost of the CNG conversion.
9. Honda Amaze
The Amaze is also being offered with a Honda dealer-fit CNG kit – again in collaboration with Lovato. Much like the Elevate, the Honda Amaze CNG is available in MT and CVT guises and is limited to V and VX trims. The warranty offered here is also similar to that of the Elevate CNG.
While exact power figures for the CNG version aren’t available, the Amaze petrol’s 1.2-litre four-cylinder mill makes 90hp. The transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a CVT. The price of the Honda Amaze variants capable of CNG conversion ranges from Rs 7.66 lakh to Rs 8.67 lakh. Again, the cost of the CNG kit is Rs 1 lakh, and it has to be added to these prices.
8. Citroen Aircross
The Citroen Aircross is a petrol-only model, and CNG conversion is only possible for variants with the 82hp, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine paired with a manual transmission (MT). These variants are priced from Rs 8.89 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, with the dealer-offered Lovato CNG kit costing an additional Rs 98,000, inclusive of a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty. For those who do not seek the CNG option, the Aircross is also available with a 110hp turbo-petrol engine, paired with an MT or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.
7. Citroen C3
The C3 also uses a Lovato CNG kit that costs Rs 98,000. Like the Aircross, only the MT versions of the C3 are available for conversion. The prices of these variants range from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 8.89 lakh. Citroen hasn’t yet revealed the exact power output of the CNG-fitted C3, though. Buyers can choose from two 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engines, producing 82hp and 110hp, respectively.
6. Kia Carens
The Carens is offered with a Lovato CNG kit fitted by official Kia dealers. The conversion cost is Rs 77,900, so the Kia Carens CNG is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh. Only the Premium (O) trim is available in CNG guise.
As per dealer sources, the Carens CNG’s power output ranges between 95hp and 100hp. For context, the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine in the standard Carens produces 115hp. The sole gearbox offered with the CNG version is a 6-speed manual.
5. Renault Kiger
The Kiger is available with a Minda CNG conversion kit worth Rs 85,000, offered by Renault dealerships. This CNG kit, backed by a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty, is offered only with the Kiger’s base 1.0-litre engine paired with the 5-speed manual gearbox, regardless of the trim level. The prices for these variants range between Rs 5.81 lakh and Rs 8.63 lakh.
Despite being a retrofit, there is no noticeable drop in engine output, as per our dealer sources. The petrol-only Kiger comes with two engine options: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit that makes 72hp and a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 100hp. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT and a CVT.
4. Renault Triber
The Renault Triber is priced between Rs 5.81 lakh and Rs 8.21 lakh, with the conversion adding Rs 85,000 to the tally. It is offered with the same Minda kit as the Kiger, backed by the same warranty. All trims of the Triber are available for conversion, but the powertrain is limited to the sole 1.0-litre engine and 5-speed MT.
In the regular Triber, this three-cylinder engine produces 72hp and 96Nm of torque, and the option of a 5-speed AMT is also available.
3. Renault Kwid
For extremely budget-conscious buyers, Renault also offers the Kwid with the CNG kit. Just like the other Renault cars on this list, the dealer-fit CNG kit costs Rs 85,000. Buyers will need to add this to the price of the Kwid, which ranges between Rs 4.67 lakh and Rs 5.58 lakh. The French automaker has made all trims available for this conversion, so buyers won’t miss out on any features offered with the regular Kwid.
Speaking of which, the petrol-only Renault Kwid comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder mill that develops 69hp. The only transmission available with the Renault Kwid CNG is a 5-speed manual, though the petrol-only version also comes with the option of a 5-speed AMT.
2. Nissan Gravite
The Nissan Gravite price ranges from Rs 5.65 lakh to Rs 8.93 lakh, and the dealer-fit CNG kit takes it up by Rs 82,999. This ICAT-approved kit, developed by Motozen, comes with dual 25-litre tanks stacked vertically in the boot. The CNG kit is offered with a 3-year/1,00,000km third-party warranty.
Nissan is likely to offer this dealer-fit CNG kit only with the MT variants of the Gravite. Moreover, the Japanese automaker is yet to confirm the claimed engine output or mileage for the Gravite CNG. For reference, in the petrol-only version, the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine makes 72hp and 96Nm, and it comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
1. Nissan Magnite
The Nissan Magnite is available with a CNG conversion kit by Motozen and comes with a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty. Dealership sources told us that the CNG kit is priced between Rs 75,000 and Rs 80,000, depending on the transmission selected. While manual variants of the Magnite are priced from Rs 6.41 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh, the AMT variants cost between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10.01 lakh.
Nissan has not yet provided the official power figures for the CNG version of the Magnite. However, the standard Magnite makes 72hp from its 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Transmission options here include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
Prices mentioned are ex-showroom, India.
