F1 heads to the fan-favourite Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese GP this weekend. With the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races due to the conflict in the Middle East, this will be the last weekend of racing before a lengthy five-week gap in the calendar.

F1 Japanese GP schedule
Mercedes enters the Japanese GP as the clear favourite following two back-to-back wins this season. However, as we saw with McLaren’s double DNS (Did Not Start) at the Chinese GP, the Mercedes power unit is not infallible, leaving the door open for Ferrari, McLaren or even Red Bull to capitalise should the opportunity arise.
The nature of the Suzuka Circuit, with limited heavy-braking zones, makes energy saving a key concern. As a result, the FIA has modified the energy management parameters for Qualifying this weekend, following feedback from the drivers and power unit manufacturers. The maximum energy recharge during Qualifying has been reduced from 9 megajoules to 8 megajoules to “ensure that the intended balance between energy deployment and driver performance is maintained,” as per an official statement from the FIA.

MotoGP US GP schedule
It’s shaping up to be another Aprilia vs Ducati showdown at the US GP. Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi has enjoyed a dominant start to the season after winning the opening two races. But COTA is one of Marc Marquez’ strongest tracks, and the reigning world champion will be hunting for win number eight at the venue.
After a strong P2 finish last time out at the Brazilian GP, Jorge Martin has moved up to second place in the overall standings. But the Aprilia rider has admitted that his target for the US GP is simply to finish in the points given the physically demanding nature of COTA.
