2026 MotoGP: Bezzecchi wins Brazilian GP to take championship lead

Marco Bezzecchi delivered another flawless performance to claim his second consecutive grand prix victory of the 2026 season, leading every one of the 23 laps. The factory Aprilia rider took the holeshot from pole and never looked back, securing a 1-2 finish for Aprilia alongside Jorge Martin.

Aprilia rider claims back-to-back wins in 2026

Starting from pole position, Bezzecchi nailed his launch to grab the holeshot, with Di Giannantonio slotting into second and Marc Marquez holding third. Martin started fourth, while Pedro Acosta climbed from ninth to fifth in the opening lap. From there, Bezzecchi was in a class of his own, and he held onto the lead to take the chequered flag.

Marc Marquez moved into second on lap two, but Bezzecchi had already begun to stretch his lead at the front. Bez’s victory was his fourth in a row, following wins in the final two races of 2025 and the season opener in Thailand. Across those four grands prix, Bezzecchi has led all 101 laps without another rider spending a single lap at the front.

The race behind Bezzecchi provided plenty of drama. On lap six, Di Giannantonio made a move up the inside of Marc Marquez, with both riders running wide. Martin needed no second invitation, sweeping past both into second place.

From there, Martin settled into a rhythm, cutting a few tenths off Bezzecchi’s lead before appearing content to secure P2. The result marked Martin’s best finish on the Aprilia RS-GP and came just one day after his return to the podium in the Sprint race after his injury.

With five laps remaining, Marc Marquez made his move past Di Giannantonio to reclaim third. But the VR46 rider had a response. Marquez made another attempt a few corners later but ran wide, and Di Giannantonio shot straight through to retake and retain the position.

Ai Ogura fought past Alex Marquez to claim fifth, with the Gresini rider taking sixth. Acosta finished seventh, while Fermin Aldeguer scored points on his return in eighth. Johann Zarco and Raul Fernandez rounded out the top ten. Francesco Bagnaia crashed out, as did Joan Mir.

2026 MotoGP standings

Bezzecchi’s dominant victory sees him take the championship lead, moving to 56 points – 11 clear of teammate Martin on 45 points. Acosta drops from first to third with 42 points after a difficult weekend in Brazil. Di Giannantonio sits fourth with 36 points and is the leading Ducati rider in the standings, while Marc Marquez is fifth on 34 points.
