•3dPlanning to buy the Innova HyCross hybrid top model, but I just saw videos of the MG Gloster. Is the Gloster worth it if the budget increases, and how efficient is it in terms of mileage?

Autocar India
If your primary focus is efficiency, comfort and ease of ownership, the Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid top model remains the better choice. It delivers significantly better real-world mileage, especially in city conditions, and offers a smoother, more refined driving experience. It is also easier to drive and manage on a daily basis due to its size and more car-like nature. The MG Gloster (now transitioning towards the newer Majestor) is a very different proposition. It is a much larger, ladder-frame SUV with a strong diesel engine and proper 4x4 capability, which makes it better suited for rough terrain, long highway runs with a full load, or if you specifically want a more commanding road presence. However, this comes at the cost of efficiency, as it will return significantly lower mileage compared to the Hycross, especially in city driving. It is also a bigger vehicle to manage in everyday use.So the decision comes down to your priority. If mileage, comfort and hassle-free ownership matter most, the HyCross hybrid is the clear choice. But if you value size, road presence and off-road capability, and are okay with lower efficiency, then the Gloster or the upcoming Majestor can be worth considering.

•5wI am looking to upgrade my current car, and my choices are the XUV 7XO and the MG Majestor, which I’m guessing would be almost twice as expensive as the 7XO. I have always been a fan of the Endeavour, so I thought the Majestor would tick those boxes, but I’m unsure if it’s worth the wait.

Autocar India
The MG Majestor will sit in a completely different league compared to the Mahindra XUV 7XO, and yes, it is expected to be almost twice as expensive. Early indications suggest an on-road price of around Rs 50 lakh, with a formal price announcement expected next month. It would make sense to wait for that, because pricing will ultimately determine how compelling it really is.From our brief drive, the MG Majestor feels like a significant step forward over the MG Gloster it effectively replaces. It’s more polished, the cabin feels properly premium, and there’s a real sense of space and road presence. In fact, the interior ambience and equipment levels feel a notch above both the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner. If what you loved about the Endeavour was that big, imposing, body-on-frame SUV feel with a commanding driving position, the Majestor should tick many of those boxes. The Mahindra XUV 7XO, on the other hand, plays in a very different space. It’s not as large or as imposing, but in its segment, it is genuinely impressive. For its price, it offers strong performance, good driving dynamics, generous space for its footprint and a surprisingly plush, well-finished interior. It feels modern, easy to live with and far more manageable in everyday urban use.So the real question is what you want from your upgrade. If you’re chasing that full-size SUV presence and are willing to pay for it, the Majestor is worth waiting for, at least until the price is revealed. If the pricing stretches beyond what feels reasonable, the XUV 7XO remains a brilliant, well-rounded option that delivers a lot of car for the money, even if it doesn’t have the same size or road presence.

•5wI am planning to buy a new car, preferably a diesel. My daily driving is approximately 100 km in the city. I am currently driving a Toyota Fortuner 4x2 AT and am now considering upgrading to either a sedan or an SUV. My maximum budget is around ₹50 lakh (net) after exchanging my current vehicle. Could you please suggest a suitable vehicle in this budget that would be comfortable for daily usage and long-term ownership? Regards, Jitender

You should check out a luxury SUV such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC or BMW X3, which will feel like a good upgrade to your Toyota Fortuner. They might not be as large, but given that your driving is in the city, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. They have sophisticated and refined petrol and diesel engine options, high-quality cabins and lots of features. Plus, they will be considerably more comfortable and easier to drive than the Fortuner. If you simply must have more space and size than the Fortuner, then consider the MG Majestor, which will be launching very soon. It's unclear how much you will get in exchange for your Fortuner, but assuming it is not too old, big Toyotas tend to hold their value well, so these SUVs should fit in your budget.

•6wNew SUV budget ₹50 lakh. Is the Fortuner being launched in the next couple of months?

Autocar India
The new Fortuner will not be launched until the end of the year and may even spill over into 2027. Hence, you may want to go ahead with the current Toyota Fortuner. Alternatively, if you want something similar, the recently launched MG Majestor, which is also a tough 4x4 with a strong diesel engine, is a good option. If you want something a bit more refined and not as hardcore, the Skoda Kodiaq is worth looking at too.

•13wI am looking for a 7-seater SUV with a budget of around ₹70 lakh. Please suggest the best option, or should I wait for a year for more choices?

Autocar India
Rs 70 lakh is a substantial budget for a 7-seat SUV, but the sad reality is that there aren't too many options for the money. The charming Land Rover Discovery Sport is the closest in terms of price, but third-row space, comfort, and access are poor. You could look at options a few rungs down the price ladder. The Skoda Kodiaq, for one, is a great SUV that scores for its premium feel, but, again, third-row space isn't great. Likewise, Volkswagen Tayron, which will go on sale in the coming months, also promises a premium vibe but is unlikely to offer great room at the very back. If third-row space isn't critical, we'd suggest you look at the Skoda and Volkswagen cars. Another upcoming option is the MG Majestor, expected in 2026. It's a large SUV that promises generous space even for third-row passengers. The Majestor will be well-equipped, packing in lots of creature comforts, and the body-on-frame construction should also lend it a tough appeal. However, we will only be able to comment on the driving experience once we get behind the wheel of the SUV when it arrives in 2026.

•24wHi, I travel around 3,000 km a month, with 80% on highways at speeds of 100–120 km/h. I am looking to buy an EV and can set up a home charger. The options I have narrowed down to are: MG ZS EV top model – an older car, but is it still worth it? MG Windsor Pro EV top model Tata Nexon EV top model Which of these should I go for?

Autocar India
We’d rule out the MG Windsor Pro EV first. It’s more of a city-focused EV, and its highway manners aren’t ideal. The ride is firm, and there is noticeable road noise, which can be tiring over long distances. The Tata Nexon EV is capable on highways, but its real-world range still falls short of the MG ZS EV’s. An important factor if you cover long distances and occasionally rely on public chargers. The MG ZS EV, though slightly older, remains the best option for your usage. It offers stronger performance, a more comfortable long-distance ride, better range, and a more spacious, premium cabin that feels a class above the others. Since it has been on sale for a while, you should also be able to negotiate a decent discount.
