Trending Questions on Mercedes-Benz GLA - Answered by Autocar Experts
I am looking to upgrade to an entry-level luxury SUV, and I am confused between the GLA 220d 4Matic, the BMW X1, and the old Audi Q3 Sportback. My usage is mainly city driving with occasional highway use, so mileage is important, but so are plush interiors, comfort, and driving experience with good value for money. Should I also wait for the new generation Q3 to be launched in India? I am not entirely sold on its exterior cosmetic changes of the global variant. Should I also wait for any other launches?
I’m considering whether to buy a used car or a new car after driving my current vehicle for 10 more years. I’m thinking about getting a BMW or Audi hatchback in good condition. What are your thoughts?
You will not find many used BMW and Audi cars (hatchbacks) in India because very few were ever sold.
BMW did offer the 1 Series hatchback for a short time, but the numbers were still limited.
Instead, it’s better to explore their small SUVs like the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1. If you are open to Mercedes-Benz cars, you can also check the A-Class or B-Class hatchbacks, though these too are rare, or consider the Mercedes GLA.
When buying a premium used car, though, make sure you buy from the brand itself, as they all have an approved used program. You can also buy one from a very reputable reseller, and if things go wrong, it can be very expensive to fix.
I am looking to replace my 2021 Tucson. My current usage is not more than 1,000 km a month, mostly on the highway. My budget is ₹50-60 lakh, and I have shortlisted the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Audi Q3. Looking for your guidance.
I am confused between the Mercedes GLA and BMW X1. Which one offers the latest features and a better servicing experience?
Both the Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 offer a strong list of features. You get auto LED headlamps, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, connected car tech, ambient lighting, and even some ADAS features on both cars. The Mercedes has an advantage with a 360-degree camera. The BMW gets only a rear-view camera but offers lane-departure warning, which the Mercedes does not.
After that, the choice mainly comes down to interior and exterior design and the way the features are laid out. The BMW’s i-Drive infotainment system is known to be notoriously complicated to use. It should also be noted that the Mercedes has more powerful engines than the BMW.
As for service, it is highly dependent on your location and the specific service centre. Both brands reportedly have both good and bad service centres around the country.
I’m planning to buy a third car but torn between the Mercedes GLA (luxury) and the Škoda Kodiaq (premium and larger). I already have a Honda City 5th Gen and a Toyota Hycross Hybrid. Which one makes more sense to buy?
A Skoda Kodiaq is better equipped, more spacious, and it is more powerful than the Mercedes GLA petrol. A Volkswagen Tiguan R Line is also something you can consider, which is a bit sportier to drive than the Kodiaq, and now with huge discounts, is a tempting option.
