Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Expert Review
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 impresses with its thunderous V8 performance, superb high-speed stability, and refined grand touring ability. The GT 63 Pro takes things further with sharper chassis tuning, ceramic brakes, enhanced aero, and going 0-200kph quicker for those who frequent the racetrack. Both variants offer a luxurious yet purposeful cabin, packed with high-tech features and premium materials. Ride quality remains firm, especially on the Pro, but remains livable for everyday use. While it’s no lightweight sports car, the GT 63 blends brute power with surprising agility and daily usability, making it a compelling option for enthusiasts seeking a high-performance coupé with AMG pedigree. Check out our expert breakdown.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 is AMG at its most unapologetically aggressive. While the standard AMG GT already looks dramatic, the Pro turns the intensity up further with a fixed carbon-fibre rear wing, forged 21-inch wheels, carbon aero elements and a more purposeful stance. The long bonnet, wide track and massive Panamericana grille ensure it has enormous road presence, though the review notes the new peeled-back headlamp design may not appeal to everyone.
Underneath, the second-generation AMG GT is heavily reworked. It now shares its platform with the latest SL and gains all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering and active cross-linked dampers that eliminate the need for traditional anti-roll bars.

Inside, the AMG GT 63 feels more practical and spacious than its predecessor. Mercedes has stretched the wheelbase and increased overall dimensions to improve cabin room and make the car easier to live with daily. The dashboard layout is familiar from other modern Mercedes models, which the review suggests slightly reduces the sense of occasion expected from a flagship AMG sports car. That said, quality levels are excellent, and the AMG Performance seats offer superb support while remaining relatively comfortable for long drives.
Entry and exit are easier than expected for such a low-slung sports car, though the rear seats remain best suited to occasional use. Luggage space is compromised by the space-saver spare wheel fitted for India.

At the heart of the GT 63 and Pro lies AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 585hp and 800Nm in GT 63 and 612hp and 850Nm in GT 63 Pro.
Performance is brutally fast. AMG claims 0–100kph in 3.2 seconds and 0–200kph in 10.9 seconds, figures that firmly place the GT 63 Pro in supercar territory. It’s the sheer intensity of the acceleration, with the V8 responding instantly and pulling relentlessly throughout the rev range. The 9-speed gearbox deserves particular praise for keeping the engine in its powerband and delivering crisp shifts under hard driving.
The soundtrack is another major highlight. The quad exhaust system delivers the kind of thunderous V8 drama that has become increasingly rare in the modern performance-car world.

The car managed around 3-4kmpl during our test.

The GT 63 Pro feels remarkably capable for a car of its size. The all-wheel-drive system, rear-wheel steering and advanced suspension setup combine to deliver huge grip and confidence at very high speeds. The car feels planted and stable, especially through fast corners. Yet despite its hardcore positioning, the AMG GT still retains some grand touring ability. Ride quality is firm, but not unbearable, making it usable.

The AMG GT 63 comes equipped with Mercedes’ latest infotainment system, digital instrumentation, performance telemetry and advanced driver assistance systems.
Standard carbon-ceramic brakes, active aerodynamics and track-focused cooling upgrades distinguish the Pro from the regular GT 63.
The safety kit includes ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and auto emergency braking.

Priced roughly between Rs 3 crore and Rs.3.55 crore (ex-showroom), the closest rival to a Mercedes-AMG GT is a Porsche 911, but AMGs take a more flamboyant approach. The GT 63 and Pro sounds, goes and feels like a muscle car but one that can also hold its own on a twisty racetrack. And it’s this that gives the AMG GT 63 Pro a space of its own in the performance car world.
