Maruti Suzuki Eeco
Maruti Suzuki Eeco is a van-style MPV and the most affordable three-row people mover in Maruti's line-up. It is sold in 4 variants: 5-Seater Standard, 6-Seater Standard, 5-Seater AC and 5-Seater AC CNG. It comes equipped with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that’s paired with a 5-speed manual and makes 80hp. A factory-fitted CNG version is also offered, but only on the 5-Seater AC trim.
As per us at Autocar India, the Eeco is a no-frills way to move people and goods. It is basic and its design is dated, but you get a lot of space for the money. It is also cheap to run, and in our resale study with Spinny, the CNG version held its value best among MPVs.

Eeco Road Test Findings
What we liked
- There is plenty of space. The high seats and big glass area give you a great view of the road and make the cabin feel big.
- It is easy to drive in traffic and simple to park because of its compact size and 4.5m turning radius.
- The gearbox has short, positive shifts, and the light clutch makes driving a breeze.
- It is quite affordable to run, especially the CNG version, which returns 26.78km/kg.
What we did not like
- It is basic in every way. The design is dated, cabin quality is poor and it still carries a taxi image.
- The engine sits under the front seats, so it is quite audible, and road and engine noise are higher than in modern MPVs.
- The ride is bumpy on bad roads, as you sit right over the front and rear axles.
Who Should Buy The Eeco?
Who it suits | Why? |
Large families on a tight budget | The 6-seater gets second-row captain seats, and when it was launched in 2025, it was the most affordable car in India to offer them. All variants are also equipped with six airbags. |
Small business owners | As per us, the 5-seater's large loading area is ideal for hauling bulky goods. Its low running costs and simple mechanics make it popular with fleet and cargo operators. |
City drivers | It is compact, easy to park, and the high seating gives you a clear view in traffic. |
The buyer Eeco suits the least is someone who wants comfort and features.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco price & variants
Maruti Suzuki Eeco price in India starts at Rs 5.28 lakh for the 5-Seater Standard and goes up to Rs 6.46 lakh for the 5-Seater AC CNG (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, Eeco on road price in major Indian cities like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, etc., ranges from Rs 5.74 lakh to Rs 7.41 lakh.
You can choose from 4 variants, with five or six seats and petrol or CNG power. A manual gearbox is standard across the range. EMIs for the 5-Seater Standard start at Rs 8,366 a month.
Which Eeco variant should you buy?
- As per us, the 5-Seater AC is the one to buy. It gets factory-fitted AC, and we would not recommend fitting an aftermarket AC later, as it may not cool as well and can cause electrical issues.
- Go for the 5-Seater AC CNG if you drive a lot. It costs more, but CNG can cut your fuel bill sharply, and it holds its value best.
- Pick the 6-Seater Standard only if you need the extra seats. It is the only way to get six seats, but it does not get AC.
- The 5-Seater Standard suits buyers who mainly need cargo space at the lowest price, as it also misses out on AC.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco FAQs
The Eeco is best suited to buyers who prioritise space, affordability and low running costs over features or refinement. It remains popular among large families, commercial operators and small business owners looking for a practical people mover.
The Eeco offers a combination of low purchase cost, flexible seating layouts, affordable maintenance and Maruti Suzuki's extensive service network. These factors have helped it remain one of India's highest-selling vans for many years.
Following the GST revision, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco has revised ex-showroom prices, with reductions ranging from ₹ 48,600 to ₹,68 000 for Petrol-Manual variants and ₹ 59,700 for the CNG variant.
The Eeco can handle highway trips, but comfort is not its strongest area. Its seating position and basic cabin design prioritise practicality over long-distance comfort.
The Eeco's design and cabin are dated by modern standards. It lacks many comfort and convenience features available in newer MPVs, and its ride refinement and safety equipment are not class-leading.
The petrol version is generally better suited to lower annual running, while the factory-fitted CNG variant can significantly reduce fuel costs for buyers who cover long distances regularly.
Yes. The Eeco remains popular with fleet operators, cargo businesses and rural buyers because of its low running costs, simple mechanicals and spacious cabin. Maruti Suzuki says a large share of Eeco sales comes from commercial and utility use cases.
The Eeco can handle highway trips, especially in its AC variants, but it is designed primarily for practicality and utility rather than comfort-focused touring. Road and engine noise levels are higher than modern MPVs. Its strengths are space and low running costs.
Questions you may find useful
Why does the Maruti Eeco 6-seater version not come with AC? Doesn't Maruti offer the option of installing an air conditioner? Can AC be fitted through the aftermarket after purchase?
The reason the Maruti Eeco 6-seater Standard variant is not offered with factory-fitted AC is largely a cost and positioning decision by Maruti. It is worth noting that this restriction is specific to the 6-seater Standard variant. The 5-seater versions of the Eeco are available with factory-fitted AC, so Maruti is not avoiding AC altogether on the model. As for adding AC later, yes, it is technically possible to fit an aftermarket AC, and many owners have done so. However, we would generally not recommend it. Factory-fitted AC systems are integrated with the engine calibration, wiring, dashboard layout and cooling system. An aftermarket setup may not cool as effectively, can affect reliability and could create issues with electrical components over the long term if not installed properly. If AC is important to you, the better solution is to buy an Eeco variant that comes with factory fitted AC from the outset or go for alternatives like the Renault Triber or the Nissan Gravite.
I am planning to buy a 7-seater and have two options. Option 1 is buying a new Eeco. Option 2 is a Renault Lodgy owned by my friend, which is 10 years old and has been driven 1,10,000 km. Which is the better option?
The Renault Lodgy is clearly the bigger of the two and would offer you more space and comfort, however bear in mind that maintaining a used Renault Lodgy is going to be more difficult than the Maruti Suzuki Eeco as parts availability is an issue even with official Renault car dealers, further given that the Lodgy never sold in large number finding parts in the aftermarket will be difficult too. Thus, it is best to avoid it unless you are very certain of the condition of the car and the availability of parts and service in your area.
