I own a Dzire petrol car and want to replace it with a new petrol car. Please suggest the best petrol car in the โ‚น10-12 lakh range.

Without knowing your exact requirements, it would be hard to recommend one. If you've had a good experience with your Maruti Dzire, it might be worth considering the new-gen Dzire, which comes feature-packed. It also has received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Plus, this Maruti car also gets a smooth and efficient 1.2-litre petrol engine that can be had with either a 5-speed manual or AMT auto gearbox options.
If you prefer a hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20 are good options in this budget. As for compact SUVs, there are a plethora of options available like the Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Tata Nexon, and more.

My dad currently drives a 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Diesel manual, which has run around 1.2 lakh km. He is 65 and mostly drives in the city. We are planning to switch to an automatic for better comfort and convenience. 1. Should we retain the existing Dzire for a few more years or sell it now, considering running cost, age, and expected resale value? 2. If we go for a replacement, is the Maruti Fronx AMT a good upgrade? Any other automatic options (under โ‚น10โ€“11 lakh on-road) that would be.

If you have a need for a second car, it makes sense to retain the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. However, if the vehicle is going to be parked for extended periods of time, minor issues could arise, leading to recurring maintenance costs. As far as resale value goes, you might want to get your vehicle from a reputed used car platform such as Spinny to find out its fair price.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx AMT is a good replacement - its engine is peppy, AMT (automatic) is smooth by segment standards, and the overall experience is likely to be quite trouble-free. You could also consider a Hyundai i20 IVT for its smoother automatic transmission and refined engine.

Hi team, I intend to sell my 2018 Maruti Ciaz petrol and buy a new Maruti car around โ‚น10 lakh. I am a retired person, aged 61, and need an automatic car with good features such as a 360-degree camera, sensors, etc. Mileage is not an issue as the usage will be very low. My main requirements are an automatic transmission and all-around sensors and cameras.

If you're keen on replacing your Ciaz with a sedan, the Dzire ZXI+ AMT is your best bet. You might miss the Ciaz's enormous boot space, as the Maruti Dzire's is relatively smaller; however, the Dzire's cabin is surprisingly spacious for its size, and the beige colour scheme certainly makes the interior feel bright and airy. Moreover, this Maruti Suzuki car is feature-loaded and includes a factory-fitted 360-degree camera.
However, do note that Maruti only provides rear parking sensors with its compact offerings, and you will have to get front parking sensors fitted at the dealership or in the aftermarket for an additional sum.

I want to buy my first car under Rs 12 lakh. I will be learning to drive with it as well, so please suggest an SUV or sedan in my budget that is reliable, safe, and easy to maintain and operate for newcomers.

Among the sedans, you could shortlist the Maruti Suzuki Dzire Petrol AMT for its user-friendliness. It is likely to be a reliable and very fuel-efficient option - one you can't go wrong with.
An SUV alternative is the Hyundai Venue 1.2 Petrol, which is smooth, has light controls, and is backed by Hyundai's widespread support network.

I want to buy a new car by exchanging my existing one. My budget is 9 lakhs. I will drive mostly in the city, with highway trips or long drives 4-5 times a year. My priorities are safety, comfort, a good engine and gearbox, reliability, and good after-sales support or service network. I prefer a manual. Since parking in the city is a challenge, I donโ€™t want a very big car.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a car that meets all your criteria. Its 1.2-litre engine delivers good performance for the city, the gearbox is very slick to use and, in size, it's not too big either.
Being a Maruti Suzuki, excellent reliability is a given, as is a hassle-free ownership experience. The Swift hasn't been rated on crash safety, but it packs in plenty of safety kit, and there's also comfort in knowing that the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which is based on the same platform, is a 5-star Global NCAP-rated car.
Other options within the Maruti stable include the slightly larger Maruti Baleno and Maruti Fronx.

How is the Honda Amaze CVT in your view? I donโ€™t see many posts recommending this sedan.

The Honda Amaze CVT is a very good car for the money. While the dimensions are small, it delivers good cabin space for passengers, and there's enough room in the boot as well. The CVT gearbox is a highlight and delivers a far smoother experience than you get in cars of a similar price that typically use an AMT gearbox. It is a good choice and one we readily recommend.

The closest alternative to the Honda Amaze is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The Honda car has the upper hand with a smoother transmission, while the Maruti Suzuki car is more fuel efficient and also costs less. For in-depth analysis, read the Honda Amaze vs Maruti Dzire comparison.

I'm buying an automatic car for my wife, who is a new driver. She will drive about 10 km per day. We want an automatic under โ‚น10 lakh with a 5-star safety rating, good features, and excellent front visibility. Which model should we choose?

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be worth considering. The sedan falls within your budget, it comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox, and you also get a great view out of the cabin. Dzire top-spec ZXI+ also comes loaded with features like a sunroof, a 9-inch touchscreen, 6 airbags and more.

Also, this Maruti car has received a full, 5-star crash safety rating from both, Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP.

I want an automatic car with a budget up to โ‚น13 lakh on-road. Iโ€™m torn between the Kia Sonet HTX DCT and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire (top AT/AGS). My driving is mostly city (70-80%), so fuel average and safety are my top concerns. Which should I choose, and are there better alternatives within my budget?

Of the two options, we'd recommend you go for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT ZXI Plus. It delivers significantly better fuel economy in city driving conditions, and there's the reassurance of knowing it's a 5-star Global NCAP-rated vehicle. The Dzire in top-spec form also packs in quite a bit by way of features.

An alternative is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo AT Alpha. While its turbocharged engine is not as fuel-efficient as the Dzire's engine, real-world mileage is still good by class standards. There's also the added advantage of a smoother 6-speed automatic transmission.

Iโ€™m looking to buy an automatic car with a budget of โ‚น10.0โ€“15.5 lakh (on-road). Iโ€™ll drive mostly in the city with occasional weekend highway trips. My priorities are safety, fuel efficiency (average), and useful features. Which automatic models (and variants) should I consider and why?

At the lower end of your budget, there is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT. It's been rated 5 stars by Global NCAP on adult occupant protection, fuel economy is very good, and it also packs in plenty of features. There is more than enough boot space for your weekend trips as well. The AMT is not the smoothest automatic gearbox, but in all other areas, the Dzire makes for a great choice.

There are a lot more options at the upper end of your budget, but it's the Mahindra XUV 3XO Petrol AT AX7 that is worth a look for you. It's a 5-star Global NCAP-rated compact SUV and packs in lots of features for the money. Fuel economy is decent, but like other turbo-petrol engines, mileage is very dependent on your driving style.

Iโ€™m looking for a petrol manual car under โ‚น10 lakh that delivers around 20 kmpl. It should be good for long rides and offer comfortable rear-seat space. Which car would you recommend?

Given your requirements, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire would be a good option for you. The compact sedan comes powered by an 82hp, 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which, when paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, is claimed to return 24.79kpl. The Dzire also has a comfy ride and a roomy rear seat, which will be ideal on longer journeys. Maruti Suzuki Dzire prices for manual transmission start at Rs 6.26 lakh and go up to Rs 8.86 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
