Initially a steel trading firm founded by brothers Kailash and Jagdish Mahindra, along with Malik Ghulam Muhammad in October 1945, Mahindra officially began its automotive journey in 1949. This was followed by the assembly of the brand’s first contracted Jeep CJ series for the Indian military. Mahindra’s entire line-up currently consists of utility models that primarily include SUVs and pickup trucks, with petrol, diesel and fully electric powertrain options.

Trending Questions on Mahindra Cars - Answered by Autocar Experts
Hi Autocar, I am a regular viewer of your YouTube channel and enjoy watching your reviews of cars and bikes. I currently use a 2016 Honda Jazz petrol manual at home. It is reliable and spacious, but lacks power. I now live in Mumbai and am looking to buy an SUV for both city driving and long trips. I am a driving enthusiast and regularly go on long drives with my family. I typically do at least 1,000km when I come home for holidays every alternate month, while the car will remain mostly idle in the other months. My priorities are a powerful petrol engine producing at least 120hp, an automatic transmission and enough rear-seat space for three people. I don't want too many bells and whistles such as a panoramic sunroof, multiple screens, ADAS or ventilated seats. Basic features are sufficient for me. Please suggest a safe and reliable car for long-term use within a budget of Rs 20-30 lakh on-road. I am also open to considering a used car.
Please suggest an SUV for me with an annual running of around 8,000- 10,000 km, mostly on highways and mountain terrain such as Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. A manual diesel is my priority, along with safety. I have a family of two, and my budget is Rs. 10-15 lakh.
I am planning to buy an SUV, and my annual running is quite low, around 4,000-5,000 km. Most of my driving will be in the city, with occasional highway trips of around 2,000 km annually. My budget is Rs. 10-12 lakh, and the car will be used by my family of four, including me. Please suggest the best SUV options for my requirements, considering comfort, reliability, safety, performance, mileage, maintenance, and overall long-term ownership.
I am currently driving a 2013 Honda City i-VTEC. I don’t have frequent usage, with around 30-40 km of running per week and rare highway trips. There are seven members in my family, so I want to upgrade to a car with good reliability, features, low maintenance costs, and better resale value, with a budget of Rs. 20 lakh. I am confused between the Seltos and the Hyryder. Should I also consider the XUV 7XO or Alcazar, or are there any other options I should consider?
I am confused between the XUV 7XO AX7T diesel AT and the XEV 9S Pack Two Above. My daily running is around 30km, mostly within the city, with a long drive once a month. Considering this usage, I don’t think DPF-related issues should be a concern. I can also get a home charger installed. Please suggest which one would be more suitable for my requirements.

Awesome car hai looks, comfort aur driving dynamics ke liye. Fortuner sirf competitor hai lekin uska cost double hai. Scorpio N mein zyada comfort aur features milte hain kam price mein.

I recently got a chance to spend time with the Mahindra Thar lxd mt 2WD. It feels more than just a car, with a strong personality and bold look. People notice its design, and the diesel engine feels strong and smooth, especially on highways.

The Neo N8 is more of a comfort-oriented compact SUV and isn't as suited to hauling 200-250 kg regularly on bad roads.

I believe Mahindra has yet another winner in its hand! If it ticks all OR atleast most of the checkpoints viz. Positioning, Build quality, Price, Comfort, Power, Reasonable mileage and most importantly top notch safety, minimal body roll etc. nothing is going to stop it from being a segment game changer for Mahindra and it's ultarian customer base.

Mahindra Bolero has been a tough SUV for decades and continues to be rock-solid in India. With improved interior quality and a practical infotainment display, it pushes boundaries in its segment.

Mahindra Cars - FAQs
While Mahindra's legacy is rooted in SUVs and farm equipment like tractors, the company launched the Logan sedan in April 2007 as a joint venture with Renault. This was followed by the Verito and Verito Vibe hatchback a few years later.
Only a handful of Mahindra's body-on-frame SUVs come equipped with old-school mechanical four-wheel drive systems with a low-ratio transfer case and a locking differential.
While new Tata SUVs are all based on monocoque platforms, select Mahindra models are still available with rugged body-on-frame architecture for those who wish to go off-roading regularly without worrying about accidental structural damage.
