I would like to buy the 2026 Kia Seltos facelift. After comparing all variants, I would like to purchase the HTK, but there’s confusion. I am looking for a long-term car. Should I buy a manual or automatic in the HTK variant? I am from Hyderabad. Many suggest that an automatic gives more comfort in the city, but I am also worried about low mileage, high maintenance costs, and performance decrease over the years. I want genuine feedback from real owners who have driven automatic cars over the years, and would like to know their feedback. Please assist me in choosing the right option. Thanks.
With the kind of traffic we see in cities like Hyderabad, an automatic will be far more convenient and stress-free to drive on a daily basis. Since you are looking at the Kia Seltos HTK variant, this would be the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with the IVT/CVT gearbox, which is known to be smooth and easy to use.
On the topic of mileage, yes, the automatic will have a slight drop of around 1 to 1.5 kmpl in real-world conditions compared to the manual. However, if your running is not very high, this difference won’t impact your overall running cost significantly.
In terms of reliability and long-term ownership, modern CVT/IVT gearboxes have improved a lot over the years. They are quite reliable and do not typically require high maintenance if serviced as per schedule. So concerns about performance dropping over time or major issues are not really something to worry about.

I want to choose between Sierra and Seltos. My preferences are: reliability, low maintenance, good road presence, good sound system, good mileage, and automatic. My average running is 16,000km annually, with 80% highway and 20% city use.
Pick the diesel Kia Seltos. With your 16,000 km/year and 80% highway use, it best matches your requirements of good mileage, reliability and low upkeep, and the Bose audio system will also meet your need for a good sound system.
The Tata Sierra, too, would do you well, as it also comes equipped with a superb JBL audio system, and the diesel engine is quite efficient. However, with the Sierra being new, its long-term reliability is yet to be known, and since this is your first priority, we have recommended the Kia Seltos.

Which is better: Creta diesel or Kia Seltos?
The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are closely related products. While they are completely different in look and interior, they do share platforms, engines and many other key components.
However, the new Kia Seltos, launched in January 2026, is based on a new-gen platform, while the current Hyundai Creta, which has been on sale since 2020, continues on an older-gen platform. The new-gen platform delivers better refinement, more tech and also comes with the promise of enhanced crash protection, giving Seltos clear advantages over the Creta.
Further, the new Seltos is also longer, making it roomier and more comfortable than the Creta. Another area where the new Seltos is better than the Creta is in ride comfort.
It's worth noting that the Hyundai Creta is lighter than the new Seltos, and offers slightly better performance from the same 1.5-litre diesel engine. The all-new Creta that will be launched in 2027 will move to the new-gen platform and will be a closer match for the Seltos.

Please advise which car I should buy. I am confused between the Hyundai Creta EX(O) IVT, Kia Seltos HTE(O) IVT, and Honda Elevate V CVT, all 2026 models. My usage will be 50% city and 50% highway. I plan to sell the car in 3 to 4 years, so good resale value is important. Which of these cars would be the better value for money and easier to resell later? Please suggest.
Since your usage is split evenly between city and highway and you plan to sell the car in about 3–4 years, choosing the model that feels the most modern and premium today would make more sense.
Among the three, we would suggest going for the Kia Seltos IVT. It is the newer car compared to the Hyundai Creta, and it is also slightly larger and more spacious, which helps it feel more premium overall. Both the Seltos and Creta share the same powertrain, so either car will offer a similar driving experience. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is one of the most refined units in this segment and the IVT/CVT transmission is silky smooth, making it well suited for both city and highway driving.
Also, considering that the Creta is expected to be replaced early next year, it is unlikely to have a higher resale value compared to the Seltos in the coming years.
The Honda Elevate is also a safe and reliable option. However, compared to the Creta and the Seltos, it does not feel as premium and the engine is a bit noisier than the Hyundai/Kia unit. It is also an older product compared to the Seltos.

I' am currently owning Ignis 2017 model. I drove 60k. 65% in city and 35% on Highway. Looking for a Automatic car with Good interiors, safety features, good balance between touch & buttons, least service issues and should be steady atleast for the next 10 years. Selected Tata Harrier and New Seltos. I have already extended my budget till 22lacs (on road price. Please advise.
The Kia Seltos will feel like a clear upgrade over your Ignis and fits your requirements well. It was recently updated and feels modern, well equipped and premium inside. Considering your relatively limited running, we would suggest going for the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the IVT/CVT automatic transmission. This combination is very refined and the gearbox is silky smooth, which makes the car extremely easy to drive in city traffic.
Within your ₹22 lakh on-road budget, you can go for the HTX(A) variant, which comes very well equipped and even offers Level 2 ADAS, making it a strong value proposition.

I am looking to purchase a new SUV in exchange for my Ciaz Diesel. We are a family of five, and my usage is low and mostly within the city (350-400 km monthly) with a quarterly outstation trip (500-600 km). My main requirements are a car that has good mileage/range, a good audio system, a large boot space and high acceleration (I like quick acceleration but not necessarily at very high speeds). The Ciaz seemed perfect so far, but now it's 11 years old, and I would like to change to an SUV for better ground clearance. I prefer not to have to spend often (for cars with low upfront cost but less mileage). My preferred budget is up to ₹20 lakh. So far, I liked the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Mahindra XEV 9S for their overall drivability. However, since they both are nearly ₹30 lakh on-road in Bangalore, I was trying to look for other alternatives at a slightly cheaper cost. I have heard horror stories of Tata service and hence would prefer to avoid Tata cars (even though I loved driving the Harrier as well).
That's a tricky requirement as strong acceleration and good fuel economy tend to be at odds with one another. A diesel engine would be good for mileage, but none of the engines in this price range is particularly quick at accelerating. Thus, we'd recommend going for a Turbo Petrol engine, which, if driven carefully, can return a good amount of kilometres for every litre.
Your best option, given your requirements, is the new Kia Seltos. It's spacious, comfortable, reliable and reasonably priced in terms of maintenance. Within your budget of Rs 20 lakh, you should be able to get the HTX T-GDi DCT variant, which also includes the excellent-sounding 8-speaker Bose premium audio system. There's also a sizeable 447-litre boot that's well-shaped and good for swallowing up a sizeable amount of luggage.

I am planning to buy a new petrol car with a manual gearbox. My budget is around ₹13 lakh. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway. Could you please suggest SUV options within this budget?
With a daily running of around 50 to 60 km, a diesel automatic makes good sense as your monthly usage will easily justify the better fuel efficiency and relaxed nature of a diesel engine.
Between the two options, the Kia Seltos diesel automatic is the better choice overall. The diesel engine is refined, and the 6-speed torque converter automatic is smooth and well-suited for normal city traffic as well as highway drives.
The Tata Sierra is also a strong Midsize SUV with more cabin space. But its diesel engine is noticeably noisier and less refined than the Hyundai-Kia diesel. It is also over a lakh more expensive in comparable automatic variants.
For your usage and preference for an automatic, the Seltos diesel automatic is the more balanced and sensible option thanks to its refinement, smooth gearbox and lower price.

I am looking for an upgrade. Does it make sense to buy the 3XO, coming from a Honda City? Please suggest. (Also open to other options)
If an upgrade necessarily means a larger car for you, the Mahindra 3XO won't be the right move after a Honda City. You'd be best served by midsized SUVs, which measure between 4.3 and 4.5m. Of the current crop of mid-sized SUVs, the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra are the best-rounded. The new-gen Renault Duster that launches on March 17 also has promise.
If vehicle size isn't a dealbreaker, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is a good pick. It's got powerful petrol engines, feels solid, and ride and handling are also impressive. The interior is also spacious for what is a compact SUV, and higher-spec versions pack in loads of equipment too. In fact, a fully-loaded 3XO is better equipped than a fully-loaded City.
Within the compact SUV segment, you could also consider the Hyundai Venue, which is a well-rounded package.

I am confused about whether to buy the petrol or diesel variant of the Kia Seltos. I always prefer to drive a manual transmission and am not interested in an automatic at all. I was owning a Kia Carens 1.5 Petrol MT previously and am now looking for a new SUV. Suggest which one to take, either petrol or diesel in the Seltos MT. Also considering the Skoda Kushaq, but afraid of the high maintenance cost in Skoda.
Since you have not mentioned your monthly running, the choice between petrol and diesel mainly depends on how much you drive and the kind of driving you do. As a general rule, if your running is more than about 1,300 to 1,400 km per month, then the diesel version of the Kia Seltos can make sense. You should also have regular highway drives so that the diesel engine can operate properly and avoid potential DPF related issues.
If your running is lower than that or largely city-focused, the petrol Seltos will suit you very well. Since you prefer a proper manual gearbox, you should know that the turbo petrol engine is only available with the clutchless iMT. The conventional manual gearbox comes with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
While it is not as punchy as the turbo petrol, it is smooth and perfectly adequate for everyday driving, especially in the city. In fact, you are already familiar with this engine because your Kia Carens uses the same powertrain and transmission combination.
Regarding the Skoda Kushaq, the brand has improved a lot over the past few years, and the earlier reliability concerns are largely sorted. However, since you already own a Kia car and are satisfied with the ownership experience, sticking with the Seltos would be the safer and more comfortable choice for you.

I am planning to buy a new SUV at around ₹17 lakh on-road price and have shortlisted the Honda Elevate ZX, Kia Seltos HTK and new Kushaq Prestige. I primarily need a car for 80% driving in the city and around 1000-1200 km per month. Which is better in terms of engine and mileage? Is the Honda Elevate outdated compared to other cars in the segment?
The Honda Elevate is a good option for your needs. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is smooth and refined, and the CVT automatic gearbox is well-suited to city driving. The car is spacious and comfortable, and the ZX variant is well-equipped too. However, in comparison to the Seltos, it does not have the space or the modernity, and the cabin does not feel as plush.
The Kia Seltos HTK with the CVT gearbox is the best option considering all your needs. It is a lot better-equipped than the Honda, has a better ride quality, and the engine has a lot more punch and strong performance while still being easy to drive in the city. The smoothness, refinement and ease of use are why the Seltos will be our recommendation.
The Skoda Kushaq is a good option, too. The 1.0-litre TSI engine is quite efficient, but it is not as smooth as the 1.5-litre engines of the Honda and Kia. The facelift that was recently revealed will be launched in a few days, but it hasn't changed much in the rear seat space, where it is still not as spacious as the Seltos. So we would advise you to shortlist the Seltos.
