The Creta EV range is 420km (with 42kWh battery pack) and 510km (with 51.4kWh battery pack), as per the Modified Indian Driving Cycle or MIDC. A 135hp electric motor is paired with the smaller battery, while the larger, Long Range unit powers a 171hp motor; both motors are mounted at the front.

Inside, the EV interior packs features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch driver's display, front ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and connected features. The Creta Electric boot space is 433 litres, and its ground clearance is 200mm. It measures 4,340mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,655mm in height; wheelbase is 2,610mm. The Creta electric rivals include the Vinfast VF6, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor, Tata Harrier EV and MG ZS EV.

Even though it is based on the ICE version, the Electric variant sports distinct EV styling. Inspired by the Creta N Line and Ioniq 5, it features a pixelated closed grille with a centrally located charging port, active aero flaps, and 17-inch aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres. Silver accents and unique badging enhance its identity. While the design is modern and smart, the visible underfloor battery looks awkward from the side.

A new three-spoke steering wheel with Morse code-inspired detailing, redesigned controls, and a floating centre console modernise the cabin. A column-mounted drive selector frees up space, and new eco-friendly seat materials feel premium. Rear seat space is generous, though the slightly raised floor causes a knees-up seating posture. Features like cooled storage, ventilated seats, utility trays, and a boss seat function improve practicality and comfort.

To manage the EV’s added weight, the suspension has been stiffened. The ride is firmer than the ICE version, especially at low speeds, but it remains controlled and planted. Steering is heavier, enhancing high-speed confidence, and body roll is well contained thanks to the low battery placement. Brake feel is excellent, with seamless transition between regen and friction braking.

Hyundai Creta Electric FAQs

Anyone who is considering to get a spacious and feature-loaded 5-seater EV, the Creta Electric is a good option. Performance is smooth, linear and reasonably quick. But what is even more impressive is its real-world range and reasonable charging times.

In our test conducted in August 2025, the 51.4kWh Creta Electric Long Range went up to 432km on a single charge, just 41km less than the then ARAI figure of 473km. However, its September 2025 update increased the claimed range from 473km to 510km, and this may also translate to a higher real-world range than before.

The 160hp Creta N Line is more powerful than the 42kWh Creta Electric, which has a 135hp electric motor. However, the 51.4kWh Creta Electric variants features a 171hp motor, making it the most powerful.

The seats are comfortable, just like the ICE Creta. At the back, the seating posture is slightly knees-up due to the placement of the battery pack, but it isn't uncomfortable.

Speaking of the Creta EV, storage capacity remains practical with the unchanged 433-litre boot, complete with a spare tire under the boot floor. A 22-litre frunk provides extra loading space.

You could consider the 42kWh battery version of the Hyundai Creta Electric. If you want something that's larger in size with more features, you could consider the Mahindra XEV 9E with a 59kWh battery. Both should easily fall within your budget of Rs. 24 lakhs.

The Tata Harrier EV will be a good option for your requirements of good road presence and a top safety rating. The Harrier has an imposing look and has secured a 5-star crash rating in the Bharat NCAP tests. It also has raft of active safety features like ADAS that can help prevent an accident especially out on highways. Reliability is a mixed bag as there have been issues reported, though Tata Motors has been making many improvements, opt for the Harrier if you have a good dealer near you. If reliability is the main concern then opt for the Hyundai Creta EV, the powertrain, electronics as well as the entire mechanical package are well engineered and you should have a trouble-free ownership experience.

I am a first-time car buyer with a budget of Rs. 24 lakh. I really like the Kia Seltos X-Line (A) CVT petrol variant. Around 80% of my driving will be in the city, with the remaining 20% on highways. However, I am quite confused about whether I should buy a petrol vehicle or consider an electric car, especially given the increasing ethanol blending in petrol. I am planning to keep the car for at least 10 years, so long-term reliability and running costs are important to me. What would you recommend in my situation? Go ahead with the Kia Seltos 1.5 petrol CVT (IVT). Your usage is 80% city and 20% highway, and you plan to keep the car for 10 years. In this scenario, a petrol automatic is the most sensible choice. The Seltos CVT is smooth, easy to drive in traffic and well suited to your usage pattern. It is also a proven product with a strong ownership track record.On ethanol blending, there is no need to worry. Modern petrol engines are engineered to handle E20, with a higher threshold for future blends. The impact is mainly a slight reduction in fuel economy, not a major long-term reliability concern.An EV only makes sense if you have home charging. If you were to consider an EV, the Hyundai Creta Electric would be our recommendation.

It offers a well-rounded package with good range, strong performance and a spacious cabin, and it is available in multiple variants within your budget.If you are open to stretching your budget, the Creta Electric is a strong product with a premium cabin, good range and Hyundai's strong service network, but it is not realistically available at Rs 16 lakh.
