We had this variant for 4 years.. absolute champ.. amazing car in every aspect no complaints.. from premium interior to driving the car .. Honestly photos don't do justice to this car .. looks a lot better on the road and the interior has quiet luxury feel
Read moreI own the A4 since last year and have driven it 11500 km. The only constraint is the mileage, which is 7 in city Delhi and 13-14 on the highway. Even with 95 power petrol, I don't know what's wrong. I love the car, but it's like it's not loving me back. However, it definitely has ultimate pickup, comfort, and drivability.

Hello team, I have a budget of around 50-55 lakh and am looking for a premium luxury car. I would prefer a sedan, but I'm also open to an SUV. The Audi A4 fits my budget, but I'm hesitant because it has been discontinued in some international markets, and the current model has been on sale for around five years. Which vehicle would you recommend?

autocar.india
Skip the Audi A4 and go for the BMW X1. It is the freshest luxury model you’ll get around Rs. 50-55 lakh, so you won’t be buying something that already feels old, and it will age better than a 5-year-old A4. Since you’re open to an SUV, the BMW car makes daily life easy. It is compact enough to drive in the city, comfortable on bad roads, and still relaxed at highway speeds. It also gives you more space and a bigger boot than any sedan in this budget, which helps if you have a family or do airport runs often.Do note, though, that the X1's performance is just alright. The X1’s engines are fine, not thrilling, and the cabin doesn’t feel as plush as the bigger German sedans. If you must have a sedan at this price, look at the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. It is newer than the A4, sharp to drive, and usually fits the budget, but rear seat space is tight.

Hi Autocar India Team, Thanks a lot for your videos and efforts towards the Automotive industry. I am looking to purchase my first luxury car entry level with a max budget of 60 lakhs. My choices are Audi Q3/A4//GLA200/X1. My main commute is home to office & vice versa, and may be weekend family drives in the city. max of 100kms per week. I am looking for petrol and want to keep the vehicle long-term.

autocar.india
From your picks, the Audi A4 petrol is a solid choice. For mostly city office runs and weekend family drives, it is the quietest and most comfortable of your four, with a smoother ride and a nicer back seat than the small SUVs. Its 2.0 turbo petrol is a proven motor and feels more relaxed in the city and highway than the GLA 200’s smaller 1.3 and the X1’s 3‑cylinder 1.5.Value also lines up. The A4 Premium Plus typically fits within Rs. 60 lakh on-road in many cities, and it still feels properly luxurious inside. If you are frequently travelling on rougher roads where extra ground clearance is needed, the Q3 is a solid choice and uses the same 2.0, but adds weight and all-wheel drive.

I have an Audi A6 C7 2019 S Line, which is lightly driven with 14,000 km and has a company record. Since the vehicle is 7 years old, should I switch to an Audi A4?

autocar.india
Keep the A6. With only 14,000 km and a full company service record, it is barely used, and you already own the bigger, comfier car. An A4 is a size down, so you will notice a tighter cabin. At seven years, the smart move is a preventive refresh - new tyres, battery, fluids and rubber bits. That bill will be far lower than the money you will lose by selling the A6 and buying an A4.Switch only if your daily use is mostly tight-city driving and you want an easier-to-park car with a fresh warranty and newer screens. In that case, the A4 petrol is smooth and light to drive, and it will sip a bit less fuel. Just do not expect it to feel as special as your A6.

Hi, I currently use an Audi A3 that is around 10 years old in Kolkata. Recently, it has started showing a few sensor-related errors such as ABS, hill assist, and auto start-stop warnings. Audi has quoted nearly 50% of the repair cost just for fixing these smaller issues. Meanwhile, I am getting a 2023 Audi A4 for Rs. 23 lakh. The car has run around 12,000km and is said to be in mint condition. Would it be a good decision to replace my A3 with this A4, or does Rs. 23 lakh seem too expensive for the deal?

autocar.india
City use in Kolkata with a 10-year A3 that’s now throwing sensor faults, and a 2023 A4 at Rs. 23 lakh with 12,000 km on offer in this situation, you should not rush to buy. That price is unusually low for a 2023 A4, so treat it as a red flag until proven clean. If it passes strict checks, then, it’s a big upgrade and worth replacing your A3.The A4 will feel quieter and smoother than your A3 in daily traffic, and being much newer, it should bring down surprise repairs. With only 12,000 km, brakes, tyres and battery, should have plenty of life left if genuine. But first, verify everything: full service history at an Audi workshop by VIN, balance warranty and if it can be transferred, insurance claim history, single-owner status, original Kolkata registration or proper NOC, and a paid inspection at Audi to scan all systems and check for flood or accident repair. If any story doesn’t match, walk away.If the A4 fails these checks, spend around Rs. 50k to sort the A3 and keep it a bit longer. If it clears them, Rs. 23 lakh is a steal deal.

I currently own an Audi A4 Premium Plus Petrol and have been using it for the last three years. The car has now crossed the 50,000 km mark. I am now confused about whether I should continue using the same car for a few more years or upgrade to a newer German luxury SUV within a budget of around ₹60-65 lakh.

autocar.india
With 50,000km covered in 3 years, the smarter move is to keep your Audi A4 for another couple of years unless you clearly need a taller car for rough roads or easier entry. At this age and mileage, a well-serviced and carefully driven A4 still has plenty of life. It is quiet and smooth on highways, and you avoid another big hit in value right now.The other issue is that, on a budget of Rs 60-65 lakh, your only available SUV options from the German luxury brands are compact SUVs like the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, which will feel like a downgrade from your A4 in terms of size and space. You will have to up your budget by at least Rs 10 lakh to move into the next segment of luxury SUVs. Better alternatives, if you don't mind a non-luxury badge, are the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. They offer similar quality levels to their more luxurious counterparts, as well as equitable levels of comfort and refinement. They even use the same EA888 2.0-litre petrol engine as your A4. What's more, for much less money, you get far more space and an even longer list of features. You sacrifice some snob value, but you get a more rounded product.

I am getting a very good deal on a 2019 Audi A4 30 TFSI with low mileage. It is owned by someone I know well, with full service records and no accident history. Should I go for it?

autocar.india
For mixed city use and some weekend trips, a clean 2019 Audi A4 30 TFSI from a known owner with full records is a buy we would back, as long as the price sits well below current market listings in your city. It suits this use because the Audi A4 is very quiet and comfortable, so daily traffic feels easy, and the 1.4 turbo petrol with the 7‑speed automatic is smooth and quick enough for gaps in traffic and steady highway runs.A few things to weigh up for your situation. Service and parts will cost more than a mass‑market car, so plan for that each year. Low mileage on a 2019 car can mean the tyres and battery are old, even if they look fine, so check the tyre manufacturing week/year and battery health and budget to replace them soon if they are original. In very slow traffic, these gearboxes can feel a bit hesitant off the line, so make sure it feels smooth in stop-and-go driving. If the deal is tempting, do one final check at an Audi workshop in your city. Scan the car, confirm there are no pending issues, get the approximate price for the next service, and ask what it would cost to bring wear parts up to date. If all this clears up and the price is right, this A4 is a safe, enjoyable step up.

Hi, I am planning to purchase a new car within a budget of ₹50-60 lakh. I really like the Audi A4, but I am concerned about its ground clearance of around 165 mm, which may be slightly low for Indian road conditions. I have also looked at the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine. Could you suggest other cars in this price range that I should consider? I am mainly looking for a good value-for-money luxury car with strong features and overall ownership value.

autocar.india
All the cars you have shortlisted, being sedans, have similar ground clearance, and for all practical purposes, the Audi A4 is no worse off than the other two. In fact, in our testing, it was the Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine that required the most care over speed breakers. If ground clearance is a high priority, consider an SUV like the Mercedes GLA, Audi Q3 or BMW X1. However, if you want to stick with a sedan, the Audi A4 is the most value for money. Not only is it larger and more spacious than the others, it also has the most comfortable suspension. What's more, its 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo petrol is larger and more powerful than the engines on offer in the 2 Series and A-Class, and the most refined among them too. Given your budget, however, you could even consider an Audi A6; check if your local Audi dealer is offering any discounts, and it could fit within the outer limits of your budget.

Hi, I am planning to buy a pre-owned sedan (yes, we still exist). I have shortlisted a 2021 Hyundai Elantra (VTVT, manual, 32,000 km) and a 2018 Audi A4 (automatic, 65,000 km), both priced at around ₹13 lakh. Which one would you recommend? Purpose: daily driver with around 1,000 miles of highway driving per month.

autocar.india
The Audi A4 is a very nice sedan, and between the two, purely going on product merits, we would recommend it over the Hyundai Elantra. It delivers a comfy ride and enough space and comfort, the interiors are well built and have a quality feel to them, and the engine too is very refined and delivers a strong performance. However, buying them used means you must bear in mind that the A4 is an older car and with the higher mileage too, plus being a segment above the Elantra, expect to have to spend more on service costs.

I currently own a 2018 Honda City VX Petrol Manual and am considering upgrading to a luxury sedan only. I'm interested in models like the Toyota Camry, Audi A4, and similar options. While the Camry appeals to me, I have concerns about its road presence and cabin noise levels. Given the recent GST reductions and speculation about potential price increases next year, I'm uncertain whether to purchase now or wait. Could you provide guidance on whether to buy this year or wait, and recommend suitable luxury sedan options?

autocar.india
Between the two, the Audi A4 offers a luxury badge, a strong 2.0-litre petrol engine, excellent ride quality, and comfortable seats despite its age. On the other hand, the new Toyota Camry is equally impressive. Its hybrid powertrain is smooth and refined, cabin insulation is very good, and the rear seat, with powered recline and centre armrest controls for audio and climate, is a superb place to be. The ride quality is also comfortable, and it retains its value much better than most luxury brands, such as Mercedes, BMW, or Audi.

Having spent seven years with my Honda City, I am now looking to upgrade. My budget is around Rs. 45-50 lakh, and while I am inclined towards sedans, I am open to considering SUVs as well. My priorities are strong build quality, engaging driving dynamics, a high level of safety, and excellent interior comfort. I would appreciate your suggestions for a value-for-money vehicle that meets these requirements.

autocar.india
There aren't too many sedans left in the Rs 45-50 lakh price bracket, but the one that does remain represents superb value for money and fits most of your criteria. This is, of course, the Toyota Camry and will feel like an ideal upgrade from your Honda City. It's built around the same Japanese sensibilities of reliability, functionality, build quality and efficiency. It's incredibly well built, has a luxurious and comfortable interior with a spacious back seat, and being a strong hybrid, it's way more efficient than any other car of its size. Plus, with Toyota's famously reliable reputation, it will go on flawlessly for ages with minimal maintenance required. Its only shortcoming is that it isn't particularly fun to drive or tidy in its dynamics. For that, you'll have to stretch your budget by a few lakhs and get an Audi A4. If you want an SUV instead, there are plenty of great options like the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron, or again, for a small stretch of the budget, the Audi Q3.
