    Audi A4 facelift bookings open

The Audi A4 facelift is now available for booking on the Audi India website and at the carmaker’s dealerships across the country. The announcement comes just a week after the carmaker started rolling out the locally assembled A4 from its Aurangabad facility. Buyers can book Audi’s luxury sedan against a payment of Rs 2 lakh.

    • A4 facelift to come with a sole 190hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
    • Styling in line with latest A4 on sale in international markets
    • Will be Audi’s first product launch for 2021

    Audi A4 facelift: What’s new

This is the second facelift for the A4 in India, with the model having received an update previously in late 2019, which was discontinued with the advent of the new emission regulations earlier in the year.

Compared to the last facelift, the upcoming 2021 model gets some comprehensive changes with a wider single-frame grille, new headlamps with daytime running lamps, revised front and rear bumpers and redesigned tail-lamps.

Inside, the basic cabin design is unchanged though there are a few notable updates. The facelifted A4 gets a larger free-standing 10.1-inch touchscreen. However, unlike newer gen Audi’s such as the A6 and A8, the A4 carries forward with physical controls - such as for the climate control - instead of featuring a second display.

As per dealers, the updated A4 is expected to go on sale in a choice of two variants - Premium Plus and the fully-loaded Technology. Expect the A4 Technology to come with tech such as the aforementioned touchscreen, Audi's 'Virtual Cockpit' digital instrument cluster, all-LED headlamps, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting and more.

Another big change to the A4 is under the bonnet. While the previous A4 was available with a 150hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, this facelifted car will be offered with a more powerful 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard, with power sent to the front wheels. There will be no diesel engine option.

Audi A4 rivals and future Audi launches

The facelifted A4 will go up against the Mercedes C-classBMW 3 Series and the petrol-only Jaguar XE. Come March 2021, the car will also face competition from the third-gen Volvo S60. Expect prices to start in the region of Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom).

Audi has also lined up a host of other product launches lined-up for the coming year.

“The new Audi A4 will mark the beginning of a power-packed year for us and we are confident of attracting buyers in that segment. 2021 will witness several product launches and we are extremely happy to kick-start the year with a model that has shaped the brand in India,” said Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head, Audi India.

As reported by us previously, the carmaker is looking to bring its India line-up back up to full strength by end-2021, with products models such as the A3, Q3, Q5, Q7 set to return as either facelifts or all-new models. At present, the carmaker only has five models on sale in the country – the A6, A8, Q2, Q8 and RS Q8, and the RS7.
