Volkswagen has brought out Anniversary Editions its Polo hatchback and Ameo compact sedan in India at ex-showroom prices of Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 5.79 lakh, respectively, as part of the 2017 Volksfest sales event that started on September 7, 2017.

The Polo Anniversary Edition is based on the Comfortline variant that comes with dual-beam headlamps, front fog lamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a rear defogger and wiper, a multi-function display and a CD player with Bluetooth connectivity. The Anniversary Edition adds new 15-inch two-tone alloy wheels, black seat covers and two-tone stripes that extend over the lower door panels.

The special edition Ameo is also based on the mid-spec Comfortline trim that features dual-beam headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cruise control, height-adjust for the driver’s seat, the same infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, ESP and hill-hold control. The Anniversary Edition additionally comes with 15-inch Tosa alloys, black ORVMs, special graphics on the bonnet, lower door panels and boot lid, a black boot lid spoiler and honeycomb design seat covers.

Mechanically, both models are unchanged, with the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines mated to the same transmission options.

The Polo rivals the likes of the Hyundai i20, the Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz, while the Ameo competes in the compact sedan segment against the Maruti Dzire, the Hyundai Xcent, the Ford Aspire and the Honda Amaze.

VW is also offering exchange benefits up to Rs 20,000, a loyalty bonus of Rs 20,000 and various gifts on test drives, bookings and service visits in celebration of the Volksfest 2017 sales event.
