Toyota will launch its next new model for India, the Glanza, on June 6, 2019. Dealer partners across the country have begun making provisions for the new model – including staff training and stocking of the car – well in progress. A handful of Toyota dealers we spoke to have begun accepting pre-bookings for the Glanza hatchback, with the booking amount set at Rs 10,000.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno-based Toyota Glanza will be sold with two engine options as reported by us earlier. Both engines will be BS6-compliant right from launch. Toyota will also introduce mid-hybrid tech on the Glanza with the 1.2-litre K12C DualJet engine. This is the same engine that made its debut on the Baleno recently. This motor churns out 90hp and 113Nm of torque and will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, there will be one more 1.2-litre petrol engine, the K12B, which delivers 83hp and a similar 113Nm of torque. This engine will be available with a CVT gearbox and a 5-speed manual.

As far as fuel economy numbers go, the Glanza V MT will deliver 21.01kpl, the G MT (Smart Hybrid) is rated at 23.87kpl, and CVT has a claimed 19.56kpl figure. These mileage figures are identical to that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

The Toyota Glanza will come with features like automatic climate control and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system replete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice commands.  Safety features will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a reverse camera, along with speed and seatbelt warning systems, to name a few.

As reported by us earlier, Toyota is expected to offer a three-year/1,00,000km warranty as standard; the same package is also offered on other Toyota models in India.

Key rivals to the Toyota Glanza include the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
