Renault has updated the Duster for the 2019 model year with a few equipment changes and has also revised the SUV's variant line-up.

The most notable change in the line-up is the introduction of a new mid-spec RxS diesel-AMT variant priced at Rs 12.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in place of the top-spec RxZ AMT variant. Other changes to the line-up include the deletion of the entry-level diesel-only Standard and the mid-spec RxL trims thus taking the number of trims to just three – RxE, RxS and RxZ.

All-wheel drive, though, remains available solely on the top 110hp RxZ diesel variant.

The deletion of trims has been accompanied by the addition of a new petrol-manual RxS trim to replace the petrol RxL. The petrol RxS could previously only be had with a CVT gearbox.

In terms of equipment, the updated Duster gets an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system with the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Interestingly, however, Renault doesn’t seem to have included a driver airbag as part of the updated SUV’s standard kit, though, ABS is offered as standard.

Mechanically, the Duster remains unchanged, with the SUV offered with a 106hp 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel in two states of tune – 85hp and 110hp. The petrol unit is offered with either a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox while the less powerful 85hp diesel is available with a 5-speed manual unit only. The 110hp diesel, on the other hand, is available with the choice of a 6-speed manual or AMT gearbox and the option of all-wheel drive.

The Duster rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, which also got a host of updates for the 2019 model year, and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
