Porsche India celebrated the iconic brand’s 75th anniversary with great aplomb by hosting more than a few events, announcing sales highs and even helping us break a record. The German brand also launched the Cayenne facelift, the 911 S/T and the all-new Panamera, and is planning to add four more cars to its portfolio in 2024. Here’s what to expect, and when.

    Porsche Macan EV

    Price: Rs 1 crore-1.5 crore
    Launch: Mid 2024
    Battery: 100kWh

The first of Porsche’s legacy nameplates to go electric, the Macan EV will go on sale in India shortly after its global debut. In range-topping Turbo form, the all-electric SUV is expected to get a 100kWh battery pack with two motors (one at each axle) producing a combined 612hp and 1,000Nm. Interestingly, the Macan EV has been engineered to be rear biased. After a ride-along in a prototype, this was one of the major contributors to our claim "this is likely to be one of Porsche’s most fun cars yet". Porsche claims the Macan EV can be charged at up to 270kW, which means the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in less than 22 minutes.

Expect the Macan EV to sport typical Porsche traits, such as the elevated headlight-pod look; the split headlights are also likely to be similar to those seen on the Taycan. The insides should also be familiar to those who have seen the updated Cayenne and new the Panamera – the dash is dominated by the presence of three displays. There’s a 12.6-inch instrument panel, a 10.9-inch central touchscreen and an optional 10.9-inch passenger screen. The Macan EV is also expected to have the new augmented reality HUD that is claimed to be also one of the ‘largest’ projected displays, corresponding to the size of an 87-inch display when viewed, with the image appearing to be at a distance of 10 metres. It’ll rival the Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes-Benz EQC.

    Porsche Panamera GTS

    Price: Rs 2 crore
    Launch: Mid 2024
    Engine: 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8

The new V8-powered Panamera GTS is expected to arrive in India next year. While the third-gen Panamera launched in India in November 2023 with just the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine option, Porsche will be adding the high performance GTS version with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine to its portfolio. It’ll sport design, aero and interior updates when compared to the standard Panamera, and cost upwards of Rs 2 crore when it arrives to challenge the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S e-Performance 4-door Coupe.

    Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe GTS

    Price: Rs 2.5 crore
    Launch: Mid 2024
    Engine: 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8

The recently refreshed Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe will also get sportier GTS variants, with the usual performance and aesthetic updates, along with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that is expected to have an output in excess of 500hp. Expect the Cayenne GTS and Cayenne Coupe GTS to launch in India around the same time as the Panamera GTS.

Porsche Taycan facelift, Taycan Cross Turismo facelift

    Price: Rs 1.5 crore-2.8 crore
    Launch: End 2024
    Battery: 79.2kWh-93.4kWh

Porsche’s all-electric four-door, and its beefier estate counterpart, are set to get their mid-life updates, bringing it in line with newer Porsche models. The current Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo’s 79.2kWh, 83.7kWh and 93.4kWh battery options are expected to continue with marginal increases in range and performance – outputs currently range from 326hp to 625hp. Expect the facelifts for the Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo to launch towards the end of 2024; the former will continue to rival the Audi e-tron GT.

    Porsche 911 facelift

    Price: Rs 1.8 crore-4 crore
    Launch: 2025
    Engine: 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six, 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six hybrid

The refreshed 911 is another model on the docket for Porsche India, though it is unclear if prices for the facelift will be revealed next year or in 2025. The new 992.2 model will feature minimal styling tweaks, such as a new bumper with larger air intakes and revised headlights. For the first time, the 911 range will come with hybrid powertrain options along with the usual petrol engine options. The brand has yet to reveal which versions of the 911 facelift will come to India to face-off against the likes of the new Mercedes-AMG GT and Jaguar F-Type V8.
