The all-new Hyundai Verna will launch in India on August 22, 2017. The carmaker has revealed a first set of official details of the India-bound model.  The new Verna for India is based on the K2 platform that is built with high-strength steel, which, according to Hyundai, helps improve crashworthiness and rigidity. The new car’s chassis is stiffer and the suspension setup is new as well, which, the carmaker states, will deliver better ride and handling than the outgoing model. Hyundai also says the new Verna’s improved body structure will help reduce NVH levels.

Two engine options will be on offer at launch – a 123hp, 1.6-litre petrol generating 245Nm torque and a 1.6-litre, 128hp diesel. Hyundai has also announced that both these motors have been tweaked to deliver better fuel efficiency than the earlier Verna.  The new Verna will come with a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual gearbox, both of which are standard on the petrol as well as the diesel engine.

The new Hyundai Verna for India will be equipped with features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with audio-video navigation and voice recognition, eco coating on the air con evaporator to help reduce interior odour, cruise control, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED daytime running lamps and LED tail lamps, projector beam fog lamps, ventilated front seats and as many as six airbags on higher variants.

Bookings for the new Hyundai Verna have commenced at all Hyundai dealerships.

The new Hyundai Verna will take on the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, the Honda City, the Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento.
