Skoda has unveiled the new Vision O electric concept at the ongoing 2025 Munich Motor Show. The Vision O, featuring an evolution of the Modern Solid design language, previews a future electric estate and a spiritual successor to the Octavia and Superb Combi models that are sold in Europe. It’s a concept that has been designed with a focus on sustainability inside out, says Skoda.

In fact, the name ‘Vision O’ has been derived from the ‘concept of circularity’. It not only uses sustainable materials but also incorporates sustainability in designing, production and entire lifecycle of the vehicle. The production model based on the Vision O is due sometime in the next decade.

  3. Has been designed with focus on efficiency and sustainability

Skoda Vision O exterior design

Evolution of Modern Solid design language.

Characterised by an evolution of the Modern Solid design language first previewed by the Epiq Concept, the Vision O has a very minimalist design with clean surfaces and simple shapes. This is, of course, in interest of maximum efficiency and range.

The face is characterised by the ‘Tech Loop’ lighting element that spans the entire width of the car and loops around at the bottom to create a sealed-off fascia. It also houses the radar and camera systems. The lighting signature, called ‘Cyber lights’ extends into the fenders as indicators and also serves as signal lights when the car is in autonomous drive mode. There are also active louvres on the bumper and two scoops on the bonnet to help with aerodynamic efficiency.

The Vision O perhaps looks the most attractive in profile. It’s slab-sided, but the steeply raked front and rear windscreens and the long bonnet give it a very distinct look. It also gets aero-optimised alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles and channels to divert excess air towards the wheels. But what’s most unique is the B-pillar design that creates a very unique glass house, while the C-pillar has been blacked-out for a clean and minimalistic look.

The tail-lamps mimic the front end with the T-shaped LED lighting motif continuing at the bottom to form a loop, while the illuminated Skoda lettering makes up the top part. It also gets a split spoiler and a bumper with a faux diffuser design.

In terms of dimensions, the Vision O measures 4,850mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,500mm in height. It is, therefore, larger than even the Skoda Vision S concept, which will spawn a future 7-seat electric SUV.

Skoda Vision O interior design

New 'Horizon Display' replaces traditional instrument cluster.

Like the exterior, the interior of the Vision O also follows a minimalist theme. The highlight is a slim, 1.2-metre-long horizontal screen that spans the entire width of the dashboard. Skoda is calling this the new ‘Horizon Display’. It replaces a traditional instrument cluster, but still provides essential information directly in the driver’s field of vision. It’s highly configurable, either via touch controls integrated into the dashboard or through a rotary dial on the centre console. There’s also a large, vertically oriented central touchscreen and a few physical buttons on the centre console and the new two-spoke steering wheel.

Skoda has also opted for an achromatic interior colour scheme, which it says will help create a relaxing environment for the passengers. It also gets new bio-adaptive lighting which adjusts the interior ambient lighting to match natural light cycles.

In terms of storage, the Vision O offers 650 litres of luggage space, a portable Bluetooth speaker, a fully integrated fridge and magnetic wireless phone charging pods. And with sustainability being a key element here, the seat covers are made from 100 percent recycled fabrics. There’s also plant-based content and scrap leather used for some of the interior trimmings, seats and flooring. Some of these interior materials can also be recycled further.

Skoda Vision O tech and features

New Laura virtual assistant and Vision O mobile application.

The Vision O gets autonomous driving capabilities which, Skoda says, will be able to manage all driving tasks independently, except for challenging situations like heavy rain and reduced visibility. When in autonomous mode, the Vision O also offers a ‘tranquil mode’ that adjusts the seats for additional room, reduces content on the screens and lets one customise the ambient lighting to suit one’s preferences.

Also new on the Vision S is a virtual assistant called Laura. The AI-based digital assistant can not only perform regular vehicle functions, but it is also interactive. It can help with route suggestions as well as a host of other daily tasks such as taking notes from meetings, planning dinners and even narrating stories to the passengers. A new Vision O mobile application has also been designed to offer users broader personalisation options and AI features.

The Vision O is a concept, so there are no technical details at the moment. However, it previews the exterior and interior design philosophy for future Skoda cars, as well as some of the technology that can be expected. A production model based on the Vision O is expected to come in the next decade, and it will be underpinned by a future Volkswagen Group platform.
