Mercedes-Benz India has announced that FY2026 (April 2025-March 2026) was its best fiscal year to date with 19,363 units sold. Alongside this, Mercedes-Benz reported a 7 percent YoY increase in Q1 CY2026 (January 2026 to March 2026), retailing 5,131 units.

Mercedes-Benz FY2026 performance breakdown

The E-Class LWB held on to its position as India's bestselling luxury car in FY2026, with demand driven by the range-topping, straight-six-powered E 450 variant. Mercedes-Benz also reported "exceptionally strong" customer demand for the recently-launched V-Class luxury MPV and the upcoming CLA Electric.

Top-end models lent a big hand

However, the upper end of Mercedes-Benz's model portfolio – referred to as 'Top-End Luxury vehicles' and comprising the S-Class, GLS, G-Class, as well as EQS, Maybach, and AMG line-ups – drove the carmaker's overall growth in the past fiscal year.

Demand for Mercedes-Benz top-end models grew by a healthy 16 percent YoY in FY2026, accounting for 27 percent of total sales. In Q1 CY2026, top-end sales increased by 25 percent YoY. Of the top-end cars Mercedes-Benz India sells, the S-Class, EQS SUV, AMG G 63, and Maybach range attracted the most demand. Waiting periods for Mercedes-Benz top-end cars currently range from 4 months to 12 months.

Moreover, EVs accounted for 20 percent of all Mercedes-Benz top-end cars sold in FY2026, with sales surging by a whopping 85 percent YoY during the same timeframe. The EQS SUV was Mercedes-Benz's EV bestseller in FY2026. Other top-end EVs sold by Mercedes-Benz India include the EQS SUV Maybach, EQS sedan, and G-Class Electric.

Entry-level segment dipped

Where top-end performance was very encouraging, Mercedes‑Benz's entry-level models underwent a sales decline of 18 percent in FY2026. The carmaker says it will continue to "prioritise customer aspiration over price‑led volume aspirations." Mercedes-Benz's entry-level line-up will soon be rejigged, as the CLA Electric will soon replace the existing A-Class Limousine, EQA, and EQB.
