Mahindra has issued a recall of over 1.10 lakh units of the XUV700 (1,08,306 units) and XUV400 (3,560 units) combined. While the XUV700 has already seen a few recalls, this is the first recall for the XUV400 since its launch earlier this year.

  1. XUV700 recalled due to potential risk of abrasion to the wiring loom
  2. XUV400 recalled due to ineffective spring return of the brake potentiometer

Mahindra XUV400, XUV700 recall

The XUV700 has been recalled due to a potential risk of the wiring harness getting abrasions. The affected units were manufactured between June 8, 2021 and June 28, 2023. Given that the XUV700 was only launched in August 2021, it implies that almost all units of the XUV700 sold till date are affected by this recall.

As for the XUV400 EV, it has been recalled to be inspected for an ineffective spring return action of the brake potentiometer. This essentially means that the brake pads are not effectively releasing the discs despite the driver releasing the brake pedal. Affected units of the XUV400 EV were manufactured between February 16-June 5, 2023.

In an official statement, Mahindra said, "In an endeavour to ensure a hassle-free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity. This action is also in compliance with voluntary code on vehicle recall.” The inspection and subsequent rectification will be carried out free of cost for all customers, who will be individually contacted by the company.
