Mahindra XUV500 to get Apple CarPlay from May 31

Mahindra is set to roll-out Apple CarPlay connectivity for the XUV500’s touchscreen infotainment system effective May 31, 2019.

The carmaker has already listed the availability of the tech on the XUV500’s official brochure online; and it will only be available on the top W11(O) trim. In comparison, all variants equipped with the 7.0-inch touchscreen – W7, W9 and W11(O) get Android Auto connectivity.

The introduction of the technology in the XUV500 comes shortly after Tata introduced the same in its new Harrier SUV.

Mahindra has previously revised the XUV500’s line-up with the introduction of a new no-frills, entry-level W3 trim in the line-up. The carmaker has also begun testing its seven-seat SUV with its new BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. The 2.0-litre unit is expected to be offered in three states of tune, with the XUV500 set to get the most powerful iteration. The motor will also feature in the next-gen Scorpio and the Thar.

Thenext generation of the XUV500 will be co-developed in partnership with Fordand is currently in the works. The partnership will the development of a new Ford SUV which will share its underpinnings with the next-gen XUV500.
