The upcoming facelift of the 3-door Mahindra Thar has been spotted in extensive detail. Though Mahindra has yet to communicate a launch timeline for the Thar facelift, the updated off-roader will feature numerous upgrades in the cabin and some notable changes on the outside.

  1. Mahindra Thar facelift to get new steering wheel, rear camera, wireless charger, and more
  2. Exterior changes include a new grille design and LED light signatures
  3. Thar facelift powertrain options to remain unchanged from the current model

New Mahindra Thar facelift interior and exterior updates

Many features carried forward from Thar Roxx

Inside, the Thar facelift prominently features the new three-spoke steering wheel from the Thar Roxx, as well as its larger 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The Thar facelift also borrows the Thar Roxx’s door-inlaid power window switches, grab handles on the A-pillars, a front armrest, a reverse parking camera (seemingly placed in the centre of the spare wheel), and a wireless charger in the centre console.

Styling changes for Thar facelift are rather mild

In line with our prior reporting surrounding the Thar facelift, the spied model looks to sport a new grille with double-stacked slots – much like that of the Thar Roxx. Though not visible in the images, the Thar facelift’s headlights and tail-lamps are expected to get new C-shaped LED signatures.

Elsewhere, design changes for the Thar facelift seem to be on the milder side. The RWD model in the images even sports the same 18-inch alloys as the current Thar, but previous spy shots of the Thar facelift hint at redesigned alloy wheels too – possibly for higher-spec variants.

New Mahindra Thar facelift engine and gearbox

One petrol and two diesel engines to be offered

Under the hood, the facelifted Thar will retain the current model’s engine options: a 152hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 119hp 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, and a 132hp 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be available for all engines as standard, with the petrol and 2.2-litre diesel units additionally offering a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Thar facelift will get the Roxx’s electric power steering system

Notably, the Thar facelift will eschew the current model’s hydraulically assisted power steering in favour of Roxx’s electric power steering mechanism.
