Toyota's luxury arm Lexus is readying not one but two all-new SUVs that will debut in the coming weeks. The first SUV to be revealed, in June, will be the second-gen GX, which will continue to be a ladder frame-based rugged luxury off-roader. The all-new TX three-row SUV will be the second model to debut in the coming months.

    1. Lexus TX will be based on the Toyota Grand Highlander
    2. Second-gen Lexus GX will share underpinnings with Land Cruiser Prado
    3. Lexus recently launched the latest-gen RX SUV in India

New Lexus GX: future Land Cruiser Prado twin

The current-gen Lexus GX SUV has been on sale overseas for quite some time, and its replacement will finally be shown next month. While the SUV will have a traditional body on frame set-up, it will be loaded with the latest off-road tech – some from the latest LX full-size SUV – along with other top-notch luxury features. The outgoing GX has been a left-hand-drive only SUV and is sold primarily in the North America and the Middle East, with some of these markets not getting the Land Cruiser Prado, on which the GX is based.

This, however, will change as the next-gen GX will be built in right-hand drive configuration as well, and the model has already been confirmed for launch in markets like Australia and Japan, among others. Additionally, the next-gen Land Cruiser Prado, which is yet to be revealed, will likely share the underpinnings and powertrain options with the upcoming GX, including some body panels.

Lexus TX SUV: Three-row rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLE

The all-new Lexus TX will be a fresh addition to Lexus' vast global line-up of SUVs. This new SUV will be a monocoque and share its underpinnings, body panels and interior elements with the current-gen Toyota Grand Highlander SUV. The only teaser Lexus has released for the TX shows the SUV's rear quarter glass area that shows a blacked out D-pillar and a decent-sized window.

The Lexus TX will be positioned above the RX SUV (on sale in India currently), and will be a three-row rival to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Range Rover Sport. Although powertrain details have not been revealed so far, reports say that the TX will share its engine line-up with the Grand Highlander that comes with three powertrain options: a 265hp, 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, a 245hp, 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-hybrid with FWD or AWD, and a top-spec 362hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol with AWD that is also seen on the Lexus RX.

    Lexus SUV line-up in India

While the new TX may not come to India anytime soon, the new GX could come here in the future. Lexus currently sells the NX, the RX and the LX line-up of SUVs in the Indian market.
