Hyundai Tucson facelift debuts with revamped interior, BS6 engines

After a prolonged wait, the Hyundai Tucson facelift has finally made its debut in India at Auto Expo 2020 in Noida, today. The SUV gets tweaks both outside and in, and also makes the switch to BS6-spec engines. The facelifted Tucson will be offered in two trim levels - GL Option and GLS, when it is launched in March.

While the changes to the exterior are not all that radical, the Tucson facelift can be identified by its larger cascading grille. Redesigned bumpers, full-LED headlights, a new alloy-wheel design and a refreshed tail are other elements of the mid-life update. Changes to the interior are more comprehensive, with a completely redone dashboard leading the list of changes. The dashboard now hosts a free-standing 8.0-inch touchscreen with new AC vents and a revised centre console, completing the transformation. As before, the Tucson offers generous seating for five with adjustable rear backrests as part of the package.

The Tucson’s  infotainment system has also been enhanced with Hyundai’s BlueLink connectivity suite. An 8-way electrically adjustable passenger seat, a wireless charger and a panoramic sunroof are some of the new additions.

The Hyundai Tucson facelift will go on sale with BS6-spec versions of the outgoing model’s petrol and diesel engines. There’s a 150hp/192Nm, 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 182hp/400Nm, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine on offer. Both engines come with torque-converter automatic gearboxes as standard. The petrol continues with the older model's 6-speed unit while the diesel gets an all-new 8-speed unit. All-wheel drive can only be had with the top-spec diesel GLS variant.

The Hyundai Tucson facelift will primarily take on the Jeep Compass and Honda CR-V in the Indian market upon launch.
