BMW X5 facelift launched at Rs 93.90 lakh

    The X5 facelift gets a petrol and a diesel engine option, and both get a 48V mild-hybrid system.

    BMW India has launched the X5 facelift at Rs 93.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It comes with a petrol and a diesel engine option; both get a mild-hybrid system and will be available with the M Sport and xLine trims.

    BMW X5 facelift design

    The X5 facelift gets a reprofiled front bumper with an optional illuminated grille (only on the X5 40i petrol variant). It sports slimmer headlights, which now get BMW’s new signature for the LED daytime running lamps. 

    In profile, nothing much has changed apart from the design of the 21-inch alloy wheels. At the back too, the only change in the X5 facelift is the redesigned tail-lights. 

    BMW X5 facelift interior and features

    The biggest change inside the X5 facelift is the new twin-screen panel that houses the 14.9-inch infotainment screen (running BMW’s iDrive 8 operating system) and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The drive selector is now a glass toggle switch, seen on many BMW models recently. The X5 facelift will also get a Harmon Kardon music system, a heads-up display (on M Sport trims) and ambient lighting. The xLine trims get Sport seats with a heating function, while the M Sport trims get Comfort seats with ventilation.

    BMW is also offering driver assistance systems that include cruise control, attentiveness assist, parking assist with a 360-degree camera, reverse assist, remote parking via smartphone and drive recording. Other safety features include six airbags, dynamic stability control and more. 

    BMW X5 facelift powertrains

    As mentioned, the X5 facelift will be available with petrol and diesel powertrains, and both get a 48V mild-hybrid system. The xDrive 40i version gets a 3.0-litre, straight-six petrol engine that produces 381hp and 520Nm of torque, while the xDrive 30d version gets a 3.0-litre, straight-six diesel engine, producing 286hp and 650Nm of torque. 

    Both engines get an electric motor producing 12hp and 200Nm of torque, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine can manage a 0-100kph run in a claimed 5.4 seconds, while the diesel can do it in a claimed 6.1 seconds. The petrol and diesel versions have a claimed top speed of 250kph and 233kph, respectively.
