On the sidelines of the BMW M440i Convertible launch, BMW showcased the X6 in India. It is likely to be launched in the M60i xDrive variant in the coming months. This marks the return of the X6 nameplate to the Indian market, after it was discontinued in January 2023.

The bold coupe-SUV styling is complemented by a lot of gloss black design elements

The BMW X6 M60i has a coupe-SUV body style that looks sleek and imposing at the same time. At the front, it features a blacked-out grille with vertical struts. It features sleek LED headlights with ‘snake eyes’ LED DRL signatures. The bumper is finished in gloss black in the centre and features a lot of air vents to cool the internals of the coupe-SUV.
In profile, the sloping roofline gives it a coupe-like profile. It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels, with red brake callipers adding contrast. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) and side skirts are finished in black. At the rear, the X6 gets wraparound LED taillights and a black bumper with twin exhaust outlets.

Inside, the international-spec BMW X6 M60i is offered with a dual-tone cabin. It has a layered dashboard design with a dual-screen setup, including a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. It has LED lighting elements on the passenger side of the dashboard and a 3-spoke steering wheel with physical controls. A dedicated AC control panel is also on offer for operating dual-zone climate control settings.
Other features include powered front seats with ventilation and heating function, memory function for the driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an ADAS suite. The India-spec model is likely to get a similar feature suite.
4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 enables a 0-100kph run in a claimed 4.3 seconds
The BMW X6 M60i is powered by an ‘S68’ 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, with a total system output of 523hp and 750Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels (AWD). BMW claims a 0-100kph run time of 4.3 seconds, and an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.

The X6 M60i is equipped with a rear differential and M Sport Brakes, with four-piston front and single-piston rear callipers. Rear-wheel steering is also offered on the coupe-SUV for easier manoeuvrability in tight spaces and when parking.
The BMW X6 M60i is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom) and will lock horns with the Audi SQ8, Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe and Porsche Cayenne Coupe.
