BMW M440i Convertible: All you need to know
Unlike the older model with a folding hard top, it gets a soft-top roof

Visually, the M440i is clearly inspired by the 4 Series, featuring similar design elements, save for the soft-top roof that can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds up to 50kph. The first-generation ‘F33’ 4 Series Convertible had a folding hard top.
The front of the M440i Convertible is characterised by ‘snake eyes’ LED headlights with daytime running lamps (DRLs) and a ‘beaver teeth’ grille extending from the bonnet to the bumper’s lower section. There are functional air intakes on both sides of the bumper to cool the engine and internals.

In profile, this car gets 19-inch alloy wheels with a staggered setup – 225/45 R19 at the front and 255/35 R19 at the rear. It’s a 2-door model whose rear row can be accessed by folding the front passenger seat. At the back, the M440i Convertible gets wraparound LED lights with intricate details and exhaust tips on both sides of the bumper.
Has a 4-seater layout, with the front seats borrowed from the M340i

Inside, the BMW M440i features a 2+2 seating layout and a clutter-free dashboard with a dual-screen setup comprising a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. The 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel houses several physical controls.
The front seats are the same as the M340i’s and are therefore offered with niceties such as power adjustability and memory functions. Other features include a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charger, a head-up display (HUD), a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and automatic climate control.
Gets the M340i’s 6-cylinder mill but is 0.5 seconds slower to 100kph

The BMW M440i is powered by the same 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol ‘B58’ engine as the M340i, producing 374hp and 500Nm. It is mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all the wheels (AWD). BMW claims a 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds (0.5 seconds slower than the M340i’s), and an electronically limited top speed of 250kph. However, we could clock a 0-100kph time of 4.43 seconds during our time with the M440i Convertible.
Prices are ex-showroom, India.
