The 2021 Audi S5 Sportback has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 79.06 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The updated S5 Sportback gets styling changes to the exterior along with updates to the cabin and more tech.

2021 Audi S5 Sportback: Styling and cabin updates

Compared to the model that was launched in India in 2017, the 2021 S5 Sportback gets a revised front fascia, with a new front bumper, revised single frame grille and new Matrix LED headlamps with LED DRLs. At the back, the tail-lamps are new while the rear bumper too gets some cosmetic changes. There's new 19-inch aloy wheels on offer as well. There are a total of eight colour options on offer, including what Audi calls Turbo Blue, Daytona Gray, and Tango Red.

Inside, the overall layout and dashboard design remains unchanged with the most notable differences being the new 10.1-inch touchscreen replacing the old rotary-controlled MMI display and the deletion of the rotary controller entirely from the centre console. The car also gets an updated version of the Audi 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster.

Other equipment that the S5 packs in includes Alcantara leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, powered front sport seats, ambient lighting and 3-zone climate control. The S5 Sportback also gets an optional heads-up display, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a parking assist system.

2021 Audi S5 Sportback: Engine and gearbox

While in some international markets the S5 is available with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, the India-spec car remains a petrol four-door coupe – under the hood sits a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 engine developing 354hp and 500Nm of torque sends power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi claims a 0-100kph time of 4.8 seconds.

Audi will offer a new sports suspension that comes with damper control as an optional extra with the updated S5 Sportback. 

2021 Audi S5 Sportback: rivals in India

The updated S5 goes up against the recently launched BMW M340i and the Mercedes-AMG C43. However, while the Audi is a four-door coupe, the M340i is a conventional sedan and the C43 is a two-door coupe.

Upcoming Audi cars and SUVs in India: 2021

Audi still has a number of new and updated products lined up for an India launch as it looks to fill up its product portfolio. Aside from the S5 Sportback, Audi’s current line-up consists of the A4A6 and A8L sedans, the Q2 and Q8 SUVs and the RS7 and RS Q8 high-performance models. Upcoming launches from the brand will include the all-electric e-tron and e-tron Sportback, the new Q3 SUV, the facelifted Q5 and Q7 SUVs and the new A3.
