The Mercedes C-Class Coupe is attractive to begin with and the sporty AMG bumpers and wheels only add to the look. It’s very similar to the updated C-Class sedan on the inside but, again, the AMG-specific trimmings and sculpted seats make the cabin look distinctly sporty. Interior quality is excellent and Mercedes has also done well to pack the C43 and C63 with plenty of goodies. Access to the rear seats isn’t very convenient and space is tight too. The C 43's 390hp 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 feels strong across the rev range and makes the right noises too. The standard fit all-wheel drive makes it easy to exploit the C43’s performance but the nine-speed gearbox isn’t as eager as the engine. In terms of ride and handling, the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe is more grand tourer than outright sportscar so while not the sharpest of performance coupes for the money, it sure is among the comfiest. In switching from the firmer C 63 S sedan to the 'lesser' 476hp C 63 coupe, Mercedes has been able to deliver a slightly more livable driving experience without compromising on the car's character. With a twin-turbo V8 and rear-wheel drive, it's still the tail-happy hooligan we know and love.
