The Kia Seltos has secured a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, scoring 31.70 points out of 32 and 45 points out of 49 in adult and child occupant protection tests, respectively. Bharat NCAP crash-tested the diesel-automatic versions of the SUV’s HTE(O) and GTX trims, but the ratings apply to all variants. Notably, the Seltos achieved marginally higher scores in comparison to the Tata Sierra, which was tested earlier this month.

Frontal offset deformable barrier test: 15.70/16; side movable deformable barrier test: 16/16
The Kia Seltos provided ‘good’ protection for the driver’s head, chest, pelvis, thighs and right tibia. However, both feet and the left tibia received ‘adequate’ protection. On the other hand, all critical parts of the co-driver received ‘good’ protection.
In both the side movable deformable barrier and side pole impact tests, the critical parts of the driver and co-driver, such as head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, received ‘good’ protection.
Kia Seltos BNCAP child occupant protection (COP) results: 45/49
Dynamic score: 24/24; CRS installation score: 12/12; vehicle assessment score: 9/13
In the COP tests, for both rearward-facing 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies, the Seltos scored full marks in frontal (8 out of 8) and side (4 out of 4) crash tests, respectively. It also achieved a perfect dynamic score (24 out of 24) and full points in child restraint system (CRS) installation (12 out of 12). However, it lost 4 points in vehicle assessment, bringing the overall child occupant protection score to 45 out of 49.
