Honda has expanded its BigWing portfolio in India by introducing E-Clutch versions of the CB750 Hornet and XL750 Transalp. Save for this new feature and price increases, these bikes remain identical to their outgoing versions.

All prices are ex-showroom, Gurugram.

  1. Prices have increased by over Rs 1 lakh for both
  2. E-Clutch tech adds 3 kg to kerb weight
  3. Bookings open across BigWing dealerships nationwide

Last year at EICMA, Honda introduced its E-Clutch tech on a litany of models across its 471cc and 755cc twin-cylinder engine platforms. Last month, the NX500 was the first of these to benefit from this feature and now, the company has launched E-Clutch versions of both its 755cc models in India - the CB750 Hornet and XL750 Transalp. With Honda's E-Clutch tech, the rider can shift gears and come to a halt with the bike in gear too without having to touch the clutch lever at all.

Otherwise, in every aspect, these bikes are identical to their outgoing versions. The Hornet now comes in a single shade of black, with a red frame and front fork whereas the Transalp comes in two new colours - white and grey. The E-Clutch CB750 Hornet costs Rs 10.49 lakh (up from Rs 9.22 lakh previously) while the XL750 Transalp costs Rs 13.20 lakh (up from its earlier Rs 11.81 lakh asking price). Expect the E-Clutch to become the only configuration these bikes are offered in once older stock is exhausted, similar to how Honda sells the NX500 in India. Bookings for these bikes have opened across all authorised BigWing dealerships in India.

Poll of the month

What do you think about E85 fuel’s Rs 82.12/litre price in India?

Good - Rs 20/litre cheaper than E20 is a big advantage
Bad - it should have been priced even lower
Doesn’t matter - there aren’t enough E85-compatible vehicles yet
