Hero has just launched the Glamour Blaze, a special edition version of the standard bike at Rs 72,200. At this price, the Blaze sits between the drum brake-equipped Glamour (Rs 71,000) and the disc brake-equipped version (Rs 74,500).

Most special edition variants are usually priced higher than the models they are based on, but the Blaze costs Rs 2,300 less than its disc brake-equipped counterpart. Unique to the Blaze is a new colour scheme called ‘Matte Vernier Grey’ and USB charging point that’s installed on the handlebar.

Powering the Glamour Blaze is the same BS6-compliant 124.7cc single-cylinder engine as the standard model. It makes 10.7hp at 7500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6000rpm. Mated to this engine is a five-speed gearbox.

The 5-speed BS6 Glamour 125 is a direct rival to the only two 5-speed 125cc motorcycles in India – the Honda SP 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar 125.

All prices, ex-showroom Delhi.

An original choke lever like this is a good sign.

Look out for period-correct nuts and bolts as well, because modern-day hardware looks out of place.
