Cayenne EV vs ICE

Porsche is taking a split route with the new Cayenne, offering the all-electric model alongside the existing petrol range. The EV version is built on a completely different platform (PPE) than the petrol model’s MLB EVO architecture, leading to fundamental changes in size, design and performance.

The move to electric has also pushed performance to new extremes. The range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric produces 1,156hp, making it the most powerful production Porsche yet, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 2.5 seconds.

Porsche Cayenne Electric vs Porsche Cayenne ICE: Dimensions and design

EV offers lower drag and a longer wheelbase

Both versions stick to the familiar Cayenne stance, but the EV has a more aerodynamic shape, achieving a lower drag figure (Cd value of 0.25) compared to the petrol model (0.35). The EV has a closed-off front grille replacing the petrol model’s air intake, but it retains functional air vents below the bumper to cool the battery. The lower bumper also features active aerodynamic vents to assist cooling.

The EV is physically bigger due to its dedicated platform – length is up by 55mm, and the wheelbase is 130mm longer. This translates directly to more legroom for rear-seat passengers. It also gains a practical 90-litre frunk.

Porsche Cayenne Electric vs Porsche Cayenne ICE: Interior and features

New triple-screen layout and comfort features

The new Cayenne brings Porsche’s updated cabin layout, with a stronger focus on digital displays. Both EV and ICE versions retain the familiar 3-spoke steering wheel and fully digital driver’s display, but the key change is the new 14.5-inch curved touchscreen, the first of its kind on a Porsche in India. Buyers can also opt for a 14.9-inch passenger display and an augmented-reality head-up display.

The EV adds a few exclusive touches, including surface heating for the armrests and door panels, plus an animal-free interior option. It also gets adaptive air suspension as standard; on the V6 petrol model, this is optional.

Porsche Cayenne Electric vs Porsche Cayenne ICE: Price and variants

The Cayenne Electric sits at the premium end of the segment

The Cayenne Electric range begins at Rs 1.76 crore, with the Turbo Electric positioned at Rs 2.26 crore. In comparison, the ICE line-up starts lower, with the V6 petrol variant priced at Rs 1.39 crore, while the Cayenne GTS 4.0 V8 sits at Rs 1.94 crore.

All prices are ex-showroom, India.
