Mahindra recently launched the XUV300 facelift in the Indian market as the new XUV 3XO that rejoins the ever-growing compact SUV segment. The XUV 3XO gets a major design overhaul inside-out, new class-leading features and safety tech, as well as a new gearbox. Let’s take a look at how the new Mahindra XUV 3XO stacks up against all its rivals in terms of size, powertrain as well as pricing.
Mahindra XUV 3XO vs rivals: dimensions
While the length of all the compact SUVs in this comparison is almost on par, the new Mahindra XUV 3XO stands out with its 1821mm width that makes it the widest car in the segment. The XUV 3XO also has the longest wheelbase (2600mm), and is the only SUV here that gets 17-inch alloy wheels, while the rest continue to be offered with 16 inchers. With a height of 1685mm, the Maruti Brezza is the tallest compact SUV, while the Renault Kiger's 405-litre boot space is the highest in the segment.
Mahindra XUV 3XO vs rivals: powertrains
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is being offered with three powertrains - a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (111hp); a 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol unit (131hp); and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine (117hp). A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard for all three, while both the turbo-perol engines are also offered with a new Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic. The XUV 3XO diesel gets an optional 6-speed AMT.
The XUV 3XO's 1.2-litre TGDi engine makes it the most powerful car in the segment, while the Mahindra SUV's diesel engine packs the highest amount of torque. Venue, Sonet, and Nexon are the only other compact SUVs that offer a diesel powertrain, while Brezza, Fronx and Taisor are also available with an optional factory-fit CNG kit.
The XUV 3XO turbo-petrol returns an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of up to 20.1kpl, while the diesel offers a mileage of up to 21.2kpl. To see how XUV 3XO's fuel efficiency figures stack up against its rivals click here.
