Although Tesla is set to begin operations in India in the coming months, it is still unclear which of its global models the American electric car manufacturer plans to offer here. Tesla's India entry to be aided by reduced EV import taxes

While imported vehicles attract a 110 percent tariff in India, the government plans to aid Tesla’s entry by introducing a new EV policy that will reduce the import duty to 15 percent. However, this altered policy will only be granted to carmakers who commit to local manufacturing in subsequent years. Tesla may be eyeing Chakan in Maharashtra as a hub for the same.
