Delhi EV policy proposes no road tax for EVs up to Rs 30 lakh

The new draft suggested this waiver till March 2030; a 50 percent relief for hybrid cars was also proposed.

"All electric cars with an ex-showroom price below or equal to Rs 30 lakhs registered in the NCT of Delhi shall be granted 100 percent exemption from road tax and registration fees till March 31, 2030," Delhi government's new EV policy draft stated. "Electric cars with ex-showroom price above Rs 30 lakhs registered in the NCT of Delhi shall not be granted any exemption from road tax and registration fees," it stated further. The 2026 Delhi EV policy draft also proposed a 50 percent exemption for strong hybrid vehicles in the same price bracket and timeframe.

Delhi proposes EV-only new two-wheelers from 2028

The proposals are open for public consultation for 30 days, after which the policy will be finalised.
