Volkswagen Taigun FAQs

The Taigun offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, digital instrument cluster, connected infotainment, wireless smartphone connectivity and wireless charging.

However, compared with newer rivals, it misses features such as ADAS, a 360-degree camera and rear sunblinds, which impacts its overall value proposition.

The Volkswagen Taigun sits at the pricier end of the midsize SUV space. While it may not be the most spacious and feature-rich offering, it offers good handling and performance, especially with the 1.5 TSI unit. If performance and handling are your top priorities, you may consider opting for the VW Taigun.

Considering the MG Windsor EV's long list of features, spacious cabin practical real-world range and the battery rental option, it does come across as an overall value-for-money EV.

I own a 2022 Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 GT MT and have driven around 56,000 km. Recently, I have been experiencing knee pain and possibly the early stages of arthritis. Considering the traffic in Gurugram, I am thinking of switching to an automatic transmission, but I am unsure whether the Taigun’s DSG gearbox would be a reliable option for long-term ownership. What would you suggest? I do not want to upgrade to a higher segment, but I also do not want to compromise on the level of performance I currently enjoy.

Given your knee pain and Gurugram traffic, moving to an automatic is the right decision. The Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI DSG is a fantastic driver's car, but the DSG gearbox is not the most stress-free ownership proposition in the long term, especially in heavy stop-start traffic. If you want to stay in the same segment and not compromise on performance, the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI with the 8-speed torque converter automatic is the best option. The 1.0 litre TSI engine will not be as peppy as your 1.5 litre Taigun, but for everyday traffic it is surprisingly good and lively enough driven at everyday speeds. You will not lose any performance in the city and the torque converter gearbox is far more robust, smoother and better suited to city traffic. It is also a genuinely enjoyable car to drive, so you are not giving up the driving experience you enjoy. If you want to save some money, the Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI with the same torque converter automatic is also worth considering. It is essentially the same mechanical package in a slightly smaller and more affordable body. The key point is that the torque converter automatic is the right solution for your knee and your city usage, and you do not have to compromise on performance to get it.

I need a suggestion. I travel around 30 km daily and am confused between two models: the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 and the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5. Please suggest which one is the better buy in terms of overall ownership.

Both the Kushaq and Taigun are mechanically identical, sharing the same 1.5 TSI engine + dual-clutch automatic gearbox options and chassis, so the driving experience is essentially the same. The decision comes down to brand preference, dealership experience and minor differences in interior design and feature packaging. The Volkswagen Taigun's design and interior feel slightly more premium, but the difference is marginal. At the end, besides aesthetics, see which brand is getting you a better deal. You won't go wrong with either. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom).

Can you please suggest which car I should choose between the Hyundai Venue and the Volkswagen Taigun GT Line?

Verified
1w

The Hyundai Venue and Volkswagen Taigun GT Line are quite different propositions. The Hyundai car is a compact SUV, while the Taigun GT Line is a midsize SUV with a stronger focus on driving dynamics. If your priority is a comfortable, easy-to-drive city car with good features and a strong ownership experience, the Venue is the better fit. However, if you enjoy driving and want a more engaging car with a stronger turbo petrol engine and a better ride and handling balance, the Volkswagen car is the clear choice. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom). The Taigun also offers slightly more space too and feels more composed on the highway. The Volkswagen Taigun mileage is 19.54 kpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, 19.98 kpl for the 1.0 TSI MT, and 18.85 kpl for the 1.5 TSI DCT.The only drawback is that it is a more expensive car, so the decision really comes down to whether you value driving enjoyment more over outright value. If you do, go for the Taigun GT Line. If not, the Venue is the more sensible choice.

I am confused between Taigun 1.5 Sport and Seltos Diesel X-Line top model. I have owned the Polo AT and Vento AT in the past, so my love for Volkswagen is making this decision difficult.

Verified

Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI Sport. Coming from a Polo and Vento automatic, you already appreciate Volkswagen’s driving DNA, and the Taigun 1.5 TSI is a natural progression. The engine is punchy, the DSG gearbox is quick and engaging, and the overall driving experience is far more involving than the Seltos. The Taigun also feels more compact and agile in the city, while still being comfortable on the highway. The Volkswagen Taigun mileage is 19.54 kpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, 19.98 kpl for the 1.0 TSI MT, and 18.85 kpl for the 1.5 TSI DCT.The Kia Seltos diesel X-Line is a strong all-rounder with better space, a more premium cabin and a more relaxed long-distance character, but it does not offer the same level of driver engagement. The diesel engine is efficient and torquey, but it lacks the excitement of the 1.5 TSI. Given your history with Volkswagen cars, the Taigun will simply feel more familiar and more enjoyable to drive every day. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11.00 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom).

Planning to buy my first car with a budget of around ₹18 lakh. It will be my daily-use vehicle for Kerala roads, with occasional long trips. I've shortlisted the 2026 Renault Duster, Škoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. My highest priority is crash safety, especially structural integrity and occupant protection, rather than features or ADAS. Which one would you choose, and why?
