The 12-variant lineup for 2026 is structured around powertrain first: the regular-petrol and strong-hybrid lines each run their own sub-ladder of trims, from the Petrol G 7 seat at the entry point through to the Hybrid ZX (O) 7 seat at the summit of the range. Within that structure, feature upgrades follow a fairly predictable progression as one climbs each ladder.

  • Headlights move from dual LED units on the base model to triple LED projectors on and above
  • Wheel size steps up from 16-inch on entry trims to 17-inch on and 18-inch on the top variant
  • Audio goes from a 4-speaker setup on the base model to 6 speakers on , and a 9-speaker JBL system on the Hybrid ZX (O) 7 seat
  • Upholstery shifts from fabric seats through the mid trims to leatherette on the Hybrid ZX (O) 7 seat, which is also the only variant with a panoramic sunroof

Buyers focused on value and running costs are best served by the Petrol G 7 seat, or by stepping up to to access the hybrid's efficiency without paying for luxury extras. Those chasing the complete feature set, panoramic sunroof and JBL audio included, should target the Hybrid ZX (O) 7 seat.

I am 74 years old and have an XL6. I feel like buying an Innova HyCross G, as my driving is not much, but I love driving.

The Toyota Innova HyCross G is a sensible upgrade from your XL6, especially if you enjoy driving and value long-term ownership. The HyCross is a genuinely comfortable and spacious MPV with a strong reputation for reliability and durability, which is important at this stage of ownership. The G variant is well-equipped and offers a good balance of features without unnecessary complexity. However, given that your running is not much, the hybrid premium may not be fully justified from a fuel savings perspective. The HyCross is still a very comfortable and easy car to drive, but it is a large vehicle and may feel unnecessarily big if you are not regularly carrying a full family or using the third row.If you love driving and want something more engaging, you could also consider the Skoda Kushaq. It is smaller, more driver-focused of an SUVs with strong turbo petrol engines and a more enjoyable driving experience. Its is also easier to manoeuvre in the city and more suited to lower running.Ultimately, the decision comes down to your priorities. If you value space, comfort and long-term reliability, the HyCross G is a great choice. If you want a more engaging driving experience and do not need the extra space, the Kushaq would be a better fit.

Hi Autocar Team, I am planning to buy the Innova Hycross GX (O) variant with an on-road budget of Rs. 30 lakh in Hyderabad. The reasons for choosing this car are the reliability of Toyota's petrol engines, long-term ownership assurance, good service support, and minimal maintenance requirements. I know it is not loaded with all the latest features, but it seems like a good overall package to me. However, I would like your expert opinion. Please let me know if my thinking is in the right direction or if I am missing anything important that I might regret later.

Your thinking is absolutely in the right direction. The Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) is a sensible choice for a budget car under Rs .30 lakh budget, especially given your priorities of reliability, long-term ownership and low maintenance. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is proven, Toyota’s service network is excellent and the Hycross is one of the most dependable family cars on the market. The GX (O) may not be feature-rich, but it covers all the essentials and the focus on mechanical robustness and practicality is exactly what makes the Hycross such a strong ownership proposition.

Hi, I want a spacious seven seater SUV with automatic transmission. I was planning for the Innova HyCross ZX(O)but recently learnt that Kia Sorento is being launched in India soon, so should I wait for the Sorento?

7w

So the new Kia Sorento's booking has already opened. I already love the Sorento before it ever entered the Indian Market. My family has been on the look out for a new car (hybrid), and so far our only option was the Innova Hycross. Now with the expected launch of the Sorento and its ex-showroom price of 40 Lakhs, I am not so sure if that's worth it. Especially if you can get a Hycross ZX(O) for a little over 35 Lakhs. Toyota has always been behind in terms of features compared to the competition. The reason I hate the Forturner and its absurd pricing. So I am not sure what to make of it. Could you help me decide what would be a better option. It should be driver focused car, not a chauffeur car. Minimum running in a day 100KMS to 300 KM. Mixture of city and highways. We have Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid, we like it but it sucks to drive that thing on the highway. Especially at higher speeds like 100-120Km/hr, makes too much engine noise, hard to keep it cruising at the same speed, even if we try the milage drops significantly. Normally it gives around 18-22 km/l in summers and in winters 26-28km/l, but if we take it for a road trip, you will be lucky to get 17. Another concern is the LED headlamps, their throw is so bad, can't see anything while driving at night especially on the highways (I don't like to use high beam because I know what's it like to be on the other end, when an idiot has his 400 W LED on high beam). People I know have reported the same problems with the hycross. Should I just wait till the car is officially launched and then make my decision?

Hi team, I am planning to buy a 7-seater Toyota for family use and am confused between Innova Crysta VX Diesel and Innova Hycross VX Hybrid. I already own a Maruti Baleno for daily city commuting, so this vehicle will mainly be used for long highway trips, family vacations, and occasional visits to my village, where some roads are in poor condition. I have taken the test drive of both vehicles. The Hycross felt smoother, more spacious, and very comfortable. However, I noticed that its engine becomes a bit noisy under hard acceleration, so I am not sure how it performs during long highway drives, overtaking, and while carrying a full load of passengers and luggage. My priorities are long-term ownership (10-15 years), reliability and low maintenance, comfort for 7 family members, good highway performance, ability to handle occasional rough village roads and good resale value. Considering my usage, which would you recommend between Crysta VX or Hycross VX? I would especially appreciate feedback from owners who have driven or owned both.

Go for the Toyota Innova Hycross VX Hybrid. Since you already have a Maruti Baleno for daily city use, this second car is clearly a long-distance family machine, and the Hycross is simply the better fit for that role. It is more spacious than the Crysta, has a more comfortable ride, and the hybrid powertrain is genuinely impressive on highways. Yes, the engine gets a bit vocal under hard acceleration, but in real-world highway driving, it is smooth, refined and has enough power for overtaking even with a full load. The hybrid system also keeps fuel costs in check, which matters over long ownership, and it is one of the strongest hybrid cars for family touring and long-distance comfort. The Crysta VX diesel is still a very good car, especially for rough roads and heavy-duty use, but the HyCross is the more modern and comfortable family vehicle. It will also have better resale value in the long run as diesel demand continues to decline. The only reason to pick the Crysta would be if your village roads are genuinely bad enough to require a tougher, body-on-frame vehicle. Otherwise, the Hycross VX Hybrid is the better all-rounder for your needs.
