Hi, I am a proud owner of a Tata Aria for the last 15 years, and now I am looking to give it a final rest. I am considering the Safari, HyCross, and XUV700. As per your suggestion, which one would suit me best? My budget is between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh.

I already own an 8-year-old Mercedes-Benz GLE diesel and an 11-year-old Alto as a beater car. I have a Rs 30 lakh budget for a new car. I am inclined towards an EV as well as the Innova HyCross. The Sierra was my childhood dream, but the EV variant may take time. My monthly travel is around 2,000 km, out of which 800 km is in the city. I want to retain the Benz for another three years. I may use this car primarily for city use as well as long-distance travel, which can be around a 1,200 km round trip once a month. Kindly suggest a suitable car.
The new Mahindra XEV 9S is a great option for you. Besides the fact that it is modern, feature-packed, and packs in three rows of seating (should you need it), you will enjoy driving it. The electric motor of this Mahindra car is peppy, smooth and very refined, and its ride comfort is excellent, for city and highway, both.

I have gone through your review of the MG M9. Is there a petrol or hybrid option available in that price range for a seven-seater?
No, the only other option you have in the MG M9's price range is the Kia Carnival, which is available with a diesel engine. In case you're looking for a petrol-hybrid, you might want to consider a Toyota Innova HyCross/Maruti Suzuki Invicto, which are significantly cheaper than an MG M9 EV, or consider the Toyota Vellfire, at twice the price of the MG.

I want to buy a seven-seater for my family. I am looking for comfort, safety, low maintenance, and a car that is future-ready with respect to fuel. I am confused between Hybrid and ICE. I am not interested in EVs. My budget is around Rs 25 lakh. Kindly suggest.
You are unlikely to get a hybrid seven-seater at around Rs 25 lakhs, but if you're willing to stretch by a few lakhs, you could get a Maruti Suzuki Invicto, the Hybrid Zeta+ variant. The Invicto is essentially a badge-engineered Toyota HyCross, offering the same level of comfort, efficiency, and features.
Since it isn't as popular as the Innova, Nexa dealers are offering substantial discounts, which means you could get a great deal too. If your usage isn't much, you could consider the Toyota Innova HyCross Petrol CVT, which will easily fit into your budget.

I want to purchase an SUV, but I’m confused between the Harrier EV and the Innova HyCross. My daily drive will be around 100 km, and I want a reliable vehicle that I can use for the next 10 years.
The Toyota Innova HyCross is a 6-7-seater MPV that ranks high on reliability and dependability. With Toyota's strong backing, your ownership experience over the next 10 years is likely to be hassle-free.
The Tata Harrier EV, on the other hand, is a fantastic product with all the bells and whistles which you may or may not expect at its price. And while the driving experience of the Harrier EV is superior to the Hycross', Tata doesn't have a reputation for a niggle-free car, and its service centre experience can be a hit or miss.
So even though the Harrier EV is a good car, for sheer peace of mind, the Toyota Hycross is a better bet.

I currently drive a Kia Carens manual but want to switch to an automatic. My budget is around ₹30 lakh, and I’m looking for a premium 7-seater with strong safety features; a hybrid is also an option. I can increase the budget slightly for the right recommendation.
The Toyota Innova HyCross in VX Hybrid guise will be the best choice considering your requirements. It is a touch above Rs 30 lakh on-road, and the only other strong-hybrid rival is the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, which is a rebadged Hycross.
The Invicto is slightly different in look, and for the same price, it misses out on some features that you get in the VX version of the Hycross.
The Innova Hycross is big on cabin space, reliability and comfort, and it is one of the few SUVs that has a full-size third row that is good enough for adults. The hybrid powertrain also helps in terms of efficiency, and the petrol engine offers a smooth and refined drive on comparison to clattery diesel engines.

Go for the Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid. Besides being spacious and comfortable, the hybrid version will reward you with excellent fuel efficiency.

If you have access to home charging and there's a good network of EV chargers around you, an electric car makes sense as it will give you lower running costs than hybrid or ICE vehicles. But if you don't have consistent access to EV chargers and you frequent road trips, you'd find more value in a strong hybrid.
Since your running is so high, you'll appreciate a strong hybrid's frugal nature as well. As for your options, there are currently three strong hybrid midsize SUVs on sale that all share the same powertrain - the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
If you want a sedan, there's the Honda City e:HEV, or if you want an MPV, there's the Toyota Innova HyCross and the Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

I've been using a Creta automatic for the last 8 years, and now I want to upgrade to a premium automatic SUV (diesel or petrol) under ₹40 lakh. Could you please suggest the best vehicle for me? The next-gen Jeep Compass will not come to India. Sources tell us that the new STLA Medium platform failed to meet the commercial viability for the Indian market, forcing Stellantis to cancel it. Your best option within the budget would be the Toyota Innova HyCross in the ZX (O) guise.
The top-spec strong-hybrid option gets the Ottoman seats in the middle row, which offer a very comfortable experience and with soft-touch material used in abundance, the cabin feels plush as well.
