The Skoda Slavia is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kylaq, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Virtus and Volkswagen Taigun. It is a midsize sedan measuring 4541mm in length and with a wheelbase of 2651mm. It offers 179mm ground clearance, which is commendable for a sedan, allowing it to comfortably travel through Indian roads with ease.

It is offered with a choice between a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed AT or 8-speed AT, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT. It is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) sedan.

Current vehicle: shared Swift. Budget: Rs 15-18 lakh. Usage: 15km every day and occasional interstate trips. I have tried multiple cars, but I am still confused. I find buying a petrol car very risky because of E20. Can you recommend some good cars?

Modern petrol engines are engineered to run on E20 without any long-term reliability concerns. Your usage of 15 km a day with occasional interstate trips does not justify a diesel, and a hybrid only makes sense if you are willing to stretch your budget significantly.At Rs 15-18 lakh, you are spoilt for choices. If you want to upgrade within the Maruti family, you could consider a Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The Kia Seltos is another modern, well-rounded choice.If you prefer sedans, the Hyundai Verna or the upcoming 2026 Skoda Slavia are great choices too.
