Kwid: Is It Advisable to Buy?

Renault has entered a new phase in India, shifting its focus towards SUVs, electrification and locally developed products. The return of the third-generation Duster in March 2026 marks the centrepiece of this strategy, reviving a nameplate that played a major role in establishing Renault in the Indian market. The company now plans to expand its India portfolio to seven models by 2030, with more SUVs, hybrid and electric powertrains expected to join its existing range.
Renault India currently offers four models spanning hatchbacks, MPVs and SUVs. The Kwid is the entry-level hatchback, the Triber is a flexible seven-seat MPV, the Kiger is a sub-4m SUV, and the Duster is a midsize SUV. The range currently uses petrol engines, while the Duster also gets a hybrid powertrain as part of Renault’s wider electrification plans.
Renault provides a standard warranty across its current range, along with extended coverage options for the Duster.
Ownership aspect | Details |
Standard warranty | 3 years or 100,000km, whichever comes first, on Kwid, Triber, Kiger and Duster |
Extended warranty | Duster can be covered under Renault’s Forever programme for up to 7 years or 150,000km, subject to terms |
Service network | 450+ service touchpoints across India |
Service facilities | Includes authorised dealer workshops and Workshop on Wheels facilities |
Network consideration | Coverage is reasonably broad, but the network is smaller than that of larger rivals, particularly outside major cities |
For buyers in smaller cities, service availability is worth considering, particularly when compared with brands that have larger nationwide networks.
Renault cars generally depreciate faster than comparable Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Kia models, although newer products such as the Kiger, Triber and Duster have helped improve the brand’s used-car appeal. Buyers planning to upgrade within three to five years should factor in relatively higher depreciation, with resale value also depending on the model, age, condition and kilometres driven.

I am using a 2019 Kia Seltos 1.5 petrol Manual NA and am happy with this car. I am planning to change the car. I am considering buying the Duster hybrid now and am also considering waiting for Seltos/Creta hybrid by the end of 2027. We are a family of 3 so the current Seltos is perfect. I use an HTK variant as we are not into extra features. I am a driving enthusiast and have an inherent passion for fast acceleration, perfect handling and highly engaging car that is also easy to maintain and extremely reliable over a period of 7-years. What should I do? I also have a garage limitation of 1700mm height for any car.
Dear Autocar team, I have just returned to India and am looking to purchase a compact SUV just for the two of us for 60-40% city and highway split. I want a car that feels lovely to drive and is engineered well. I am not into "features" for the sake of it. I almost bought the Sierra/Creta EVs, then realized that I don't want to spend so much, and haven't seriously thought about highway charging. I've tried the Kushaq/Taigun and really loved their built and handling. This is when I realized that I really care about the feel of driving. Only issues are firmer suspension and fuel economy. I've also booked the Duster hybrid which should solve these two problems, but I haven't test driven the petrol Duster long enough to know if I get a similar feeling on the drive. What I did feel was a cramped cabin on the duster as my left knee was on the center console and right knee was on the door. This was not a concern with the Kushaq and Taigun. I'll try the Duster petrol again, and then also the hybrid. But I wonder if I should just get the Skoda/Volkswagen since I love them. I should perhaps think about resale, maintenance etc.
Hi, my usage is around 2400 km monthly which includes 95% running on highways with 2 long family trips annually. I have shortlisted Grand Vitara Zeta (O) AT Smart Hybrid, Seltos Diesel AT HTK+(O) and Carens DCT HTK+(O) {for 7 members who travel occasionally). I am looking for lesser running costs, better service quality and peace of mind as I tend to keep the vehicle for very long as I am close to retirement. I drive quite a lot. Also since I have been using Citroen C3 for 4 years, I expect the same wonderful suspension which is best on both highway and within city. I am not looking at EV as the upfront price is high and I don't see that I will be having huge savings considering the additional insurance cost and tire change frequency. Kindly advice.
Hi, I am an automotive enthusiast and go for track drive as well. Can you help me out with a suitable car under Rs. 15-17 lakh as I own Ritz diesel that has completed 2.3 lakh km in 10 years without any engine repair or changing timing chain with regular use of full synthetic oil. I do both city and highway driving regularly as my daily run would be 70 km and I do out station travel for work as I stay in Hyderabad and go for trip around Hyderabad to Bengaluru Chennai Pune and Mumbai. I have 3 elders who rarely travel outstation but they sometimes travel within city. My wife and children travel often with me especially for official and personal usage, suggest me a car with good driving dynamics that offers stability abd comfort. Can a 1 liter Skoda vehicle manage driving load or is 1.5 liter better. I don't have an opinion on Kia or Hyundai and I want to know if these brands are reliable and safe. Suggest me a suitable car.
I am planning to buy a hybrid car within 25 lakh for 80-100 km daily running mostly within the city. I am considering the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid, but I am not a big fan of its looks, and the rear seat space is not enough. I just want to know when is the Kia Seltos hybrid, Duster 7-seater and Bigster launching so that I can plan accordingly.

It handles with ease and comfort, making it perfect for a small family. Best car that has kept me happy since 2022.
