Even though we haven't extensively tested the Tomahawk EV yet, given our past experience with MG offerings, they deliver healthy range and are very easy to drive, with light controls. And having the flexibility of a third row of seats is something you don't get with the Mahindra XEV 9E. On the flip side, the Mahindra XEV 9e Pack Two 70kWh will not only be more efficient, resulting in better real-world range, but it is also nicer to drive, and certainly has stronger road presence. The festive discounts only improve its value quotient. In summary, the Hector Tomahawk EV is a good product, but the XEV 9e is a future-proof and better-engineered EV.

Go for the MG Hector Tomahawk EV, as it seems to fit your brief better. While the Tomahawk EV is a new product, MG has a proven history with EVs in India, with models such as the ZS EV, Comet and Windsor, and more recently the M9 and Cyberster. This includes aftersales and service, with its dealerships well prepared to handle EVs, which should give you peace of mind when it comes to long-term ownership. As you have noted, the Tomahawk EV has a practical cabin and a clean interior without a passenger screen. The fact that the MG showroom and service center are very close to your home is also a significant advantage for long-term ownership and convenience.The Mahindra XEV 9e is a very good product with strong road presence, but the triple-screen setup is something you are not keen on, and it adds complexity that you do not need. It's also more powerful, and though it has the longer range on paper, in real-world use the difference may be less. The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is also better value for money at around Rs 24.7 lakh on-road, and it leaves room in your budget for a higher variant or additional accessories.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is definitely worth waiting for before making the final decision. On paper, it is a very strong proposition, especially at the price you are considering, and it could prove to be better value than the XEV 9e.However, the Tomahawk EV is a completely new product, so it is difficult to give a definitive verdict based purely on specifications. Real-world range, ride comfort, performance, refinement, charging experience and overall usability will only become clear after we have driven and tested it properly.The XEV 9s, meanwhile, is the more established choice and has already demonstrated that it is a capable, premium EV. If you are comfortable stretching your budget, it remains the safer choice today.But with your 50km daily commute and home charging, there is no particular need to rush into the XEV 9s.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV has been launched at a very attractive price. Although we haven't tested the Hector Tomahawk EV to comment on its performance, range or comfort, first impressions seem positive, and it seems very competent on paper. The Safari EV, on the other hand, hasn't been launched yet, and it's likely to be more expensive in comparison. So waiting for that might only delay your purchase.If you want a competent, proven seven-seater electric car, you could consider the Mahindra XEV 9S and the Kia Clavis EV. The former is more powerful and nicer to drive, while the latter is a lot more spacious in the third row and will be relatively more affordable.

With a daily running of around 70km, the financial case for an EV becomes very strong, provided you have access to home charging. The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is a large, comfortable SUV with a spacious cabin and a long range, making it well suited to your usage pattern. It will also deliver significantly lower running costs compared to a hybrid or petrol car.The Kia Sorento HTE (O) Hybrid is a very appealing product, but the fuel savings are not as dramatic as those of a well-used EV. Selling a one-year-old Carens Clavis will also involve a depreciation hit that is difficult to justify unless the Sorento offers something you genuinely need.The Clavis DCT is already a very capable family car, and there is no compelling reason to replace it after just one year. The smarter move is to retain the Clavis and add the Hector Tomahawk EV as your primary daily driver. This way, you get the best of both worlds: an efficient, low-cost commuter and a practical family car for longer trips.
