My Volkswagen Polo is 15 years old, but I cannot use it in Delhi NCR due to the 15-year age limit. The car is in good condition. I am 64 years old and drive only short distances, and I don’t want to invest much in a new car. After driving a VW, I feel other cars aren’t as good as the Polo. What would be the best option - buy a used Polo or invest in a new car? I am not willing to spend more than ₹6-7 lakh. Please advise. Also, is there any dealer who can offer ₹1-1.5 lakh for my car as part exchange for a good, senior-citizen-friendly vehicle? I have 25 years of driving experience and typically drive around 2.5 km at a time.

It is very sad that you're having to retire your well-maintained Polo due to the 15-year rule in Delhi NCR. Since you have a budget of Rs 7 lakhs, we'd advise you to get a 2020-21 Maruti Brezza or Toyota Urban Cruiser, both of which are smooth, well-built cars. Their seating position is high, visibility is good, and controls are light, which makes them very user-friendly.

Also, try finding the newest possible example, which will ensure that you drive the vehicle for 9 or 10 years before it reaches the 15-year age-limit.

For your outgoing car, you could consider getting in touch with used-car platforms such as Spinny; they'll do the paperwork, and should get you a good price.

I wish to buy an SUV for my four-member family. I am 58 years old, and we drive about 20 km daily with occasional long trips. I have been driving for 15 years, and my wife is a new driver. We want an automatic car. Our budget is ₹13-14 lakh. Can you suggest a fuel-efficient SUV with smooth gear shifting that would be suitable for us?

Given your requirements, you should consider the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The Brezza has a comfortable and spacious cabin that can easily accommodate four adults. It also comes with a refined 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Maruti claims the Brezza automatic will do 19.8kpl. The Brezza is also relatively easy to drive, and being a Maruti product, it will also be stress-free to maintain. Maruti Brezza price for petrol-auto range starts from Rs 10.60 lakh to Rs 12.86 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Hey I want to buy a family car which is spacious for atleast 5 peoples and comfortable even for long trips. My budget is around 12-13 lakhs. I want a car which is reliable, low maintenance cost and most importantly safe.

The ideal car for your requirement is the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Thanks to its wide rear seat, five adults can sit in good comfort, and the ride quality is comfortable enough even for long journeys. It is a proven product and, being a Maruti Suzuki, you can expect low maintenance costs and reliable ownership.

There are, however, two caveats. The Brezza facelift is expected very soon, so it may make sense to wait if you are not in a hurry. Also, the current generation of the Brezza has not been crash tested yet, while the previous generation was tested by Global NCAP and had scored a four star rating.

If you want to buy a car immediately, the Mahindra 3XO is another strong option. It comes with a more powerful turbo petrol engine that delivers effortless performance even with a full load. Its wider body makes it one of the best five seater options in the segment. It has also scored a full five star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests.

Within your budget, you can opt for the REVX A variant of the 3XO or the ZXi variant of the Brezza.

I have a Duster RXZ 110PS petrol top-end manual transmission. I have completed 49,000 km and am planning to replace it, but my budget is limited as I cannot afford a bigger down payment. With the Duster being an icon, which car would you suggest? My budget for an automatic only is ₹12 lakh.

Unfortunately, we will not know the price of the new Renault Duster for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Worse still, Renault has chosen not to offer an automatic gearbox option with the smaller, less powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, even though the same engine is offered with a CVT in the smaller Renault Kiger.
However, Renault has been known to undercut rivals in each of the segments it operates in, and there may be a chance that the new Duster with the 1.3-litre turbo petrol and DCT auto could fit in your budget of Rs 12 lakh.
If not, you could consider other compact SUVs, such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza or the Tata Nexon, which are similarly tough SUVs that will get you an automatic at your budget, albeit in a slightly smaller size.

I need to switch from a diesel Ertiga to a petrol automatic car or SUV. My usage will be around 100 km per month in the city and 2,000 km on the highway yearly. My budget is ₹20 lakh. Please suggest a low-maintenance vehicle.

Since you have been a Maruti owner for over 10 years, you are likely to feel most comfortable sticking with the brand, especially given your requirement for a low-maintenance vehicle.
We would recommend the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the ZXi Plus 1.5 6AT variant. It is a well-equipped option. While the engine and outright performance are underwhelming, they are adequate for the limited driving you do each year, and the smooth torque converter automatic makes it easy to live with on a daily basis.

I have a budget of ₹12-16 lakh and am looking for a petrol automatic car for my 60-year-old father. Most of the time, only two people will be using the car, with occasional full occupancy of four. Priorities are good looks, comfort, and safety.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza would be a good fit. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is paired with a torque converter automatic, which is the smoothest type of gearbox to have. The engine also has a nice and relaxed nature, and on the whole, the Brezza is an easy drive, something your dad will appreciate.
The seats inside are also comfy, and the ride quality, especially at low speeds in the city, is very nice and plush. When you do visit your dad, you will find ample rear-seat legroom, too.

I wish to sell my Swift and buy the 2026 Brezza or 2026 Fronx. Between the two, which is the better overall option?

The choice between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Fronx really comes down to what you want in a car. The Maruti Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that has a very easy-going character, which complements its comfortable, easy-to-drive nature and plush ride at low speeds. Thus, it’s a very good city car. The overall space inside is also better.
If space isn't a critical requirement and if you would like something livelier and with a more youthful character, then the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a better bet. It offers a 1.2-litre engine, which is nice to drive, but it also has the option of a more powerful and fun-to-drive 1.0-litre turbocharged engine.

Team, please help. We have shortlisted the Mahindra 3XO AT and the Brezza AT, with a budget of ₹12-15 lakh. The car will be used mostly for city driving. We need a spacious and reliable car for a family of 4-5 members. Driving will be calm (no rash driving), and the car will primarily be driven by a lady. Please suggest between these two.

Both the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Brezza are spacious, well-rounded cars, and both are available with a smooth, 6-speed torque converter (automatic). The key difference between the two cars is their engine - the XUV 3XO is powered by a stronger, turbo-petrol engine, which makes driving a lot more effortless, be it in the city or on the highway. On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza comes with a larger, 1.5-litre petrol engine, but it is responsive and performs reasonably well within urban confines.
The Brezza has an edge when it comes to ride and seat comfort, whereas the XUV's steering is a touch lighter, and its interiors are brighter than the Brezza's. On the whole, the Mahindra's more modern outlook, value pricing, and its relatively more effortless performance gives it an edge.

I am planning to buy an automatic car within ₹12 lakh and considering Brezza VXi AT. The car will be used mostly for city travel . Will it be a good decision? Is the new Brezza coming within months? My priority is low maintenance and worry-free ownership. You can suggest your choice.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a good option for you. The car is spacious, has a comfortable ride, especially so at low speeds in the city, and the 1.5-litre petrol engine is refined. The automatic gearbox is also very smooth, being a torque convertor unit, which is the smoothest type of autobox around.
The Brezza will also meet your requirements of a worry-free ownership and low maintenance. Maruti Suzuki is expected to give the Brezza a facelift in the coming months, but what the changes are is not yet known.

I own alto 2020 model, want to upgrade to bigger suv, budget is around 10 lakhs, is bolero neo N11 a good option for me ?

The ex-showroom price of the Mahindra Bolero Neo N11 is Rs 10 lakh, so you will have to account for costs of insurance, registration and other charges. That said, the Bolero Neo is a rugged SUV, with a surprisingly refined 1.5L diesel engine. Also, it has the ability to seat seven, which gives it an edge over the 5-seater monocoque compact SUVs available at a similar price.

However, if you don't need that extra pair of jump seats, we'd recommend you to consider the Maruti Brezza or Mahindra XUV 3XO instead, which are a lot easier and more car-like to drive, and their driving dynamics are also much better than the Bolero Neo. These compact SUVs feel surprisingly robust, however if your usage majorly includes bad and broken roads, the Bolero Neo could be the better pick, simply for its toughness and abuse-friendliness.
