Hi team! 🙋 Hope you are having a good day. Wanted your help in reaching an informed decision. I'm getting a used 45K Run 2024 Curvv EV Empowered+ A 55 for 16.5L . Do you think it is an okay price? I haven't negotiated yet. What will I be missing in comparison to the new SeriesX? Is the backseat of the old model comfortable for long journeys? I heard there were some complaints before n they improved it in the new one. Was there anything else bad apart from the headroom before, and how bad was it anyway, if tall passenger won't be sitting at the back? Also r there any known issues? What should I double check before buying one used? Or should I wait n buy a new Syros EV instead? Really appreciate your work in helping us out. Thanks in advance.

Need a suggestion for an EV purchase. My driving is 95% city use. I stay in a rented apartment that has charging facilities. My maximum on-road budget is Rs 15 lakh.

Consider the Syros EV 42kWh. With a 95% city driving pattern and a budget of Rs 15 lakh, it is the most sensible choice. It is compact, easy to manoeuvre in traffic and parking, and offers better ride quality than the ICE version. Kia Syros EV also has a large boot and a decent feature set for the price. Your budget only allows for the smaller 42kWh battery; however, it should offer more than enough range for your usage. Since you have charging facilities at your apartment, you will be able to take full advantage of the low running costs and convenience of overnight charging. The Tata Nexon EV is also a good choice in this segment, but the 45kWh variant will likely exceed your budget. Overall, the Kia electric car mentioned above is a better fit for your usage and budget.

Hi, I currently live in Bengaluru and am looking to buy an automatic car for my office commute. My commute is typically around 100 km per week. Given the current ethanol situation, I am considering buying an EV. I have a charger in my apartment, and there is also a fast charger nearby. My budget is around Rs. 20 lakh. I currently drive a Volkswagen Ameo and am planning to keep it for long trips. I also tried a 2021 Tata Nexon EV, but I didn't like the cabin space. I also didn't like the design of the MG Windsor. Should I consider buying a used EV or a new EV?

Our recommendation would be the new Kia Syros EV. With a 100km/week commute, home charging and a Rs 20 lakh budget, it is the best EV for a city like Bengaluru. In your budget, you can get the HTX Plus trim with the ER (Extended Range) battery that is larger at 51.4kWh with a claimed range of over 500km. Moreover, it is compact on the outside, which makes it very easy to manoeuvre in traffic, but has a surprisingly spacious interior. Big on practicality and a good feature list make its case stronger. A used electric car only makes sense if the battery health is good and range isn't affected. Other issues like tyre and suspension wear are crucial, so buying one brand new is always a better bet.

With approximately 1,000-1,500 km per month and some highway trips, which EV should I choose: Kia Syros EV or E Vitara?

With 1,000-1,500 km a month and some highway trips, the Kia Syros EV is the better fit. It has a larger battery and a longer real-world range than the Maruti E Vitara EV, which makes a noticeable difference on highway runs. The Syros EV also feels more premium inside and offers a more comfortable cabin and far more usable boot, which matters on longer journeys. The e Vitara EV is still a good product, but its smaller battery and shorter range make it less suited to regular highway use at this kind of monthly running. The Syros EV is simply the more complete electric car for your usage pattern.

Hello Autocar India team, I own a Maruti Suzuki S-Presso VXI+ AMT, which I purchased in October 2024. The odometer reading is 8900 KM. I am looking to upgrade to an EV. My driving will be mostly 90% city and 10% highways 1) How much should I expect while selling my S-Presso? 2) Among Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7L EV, Kia Syros EV HTK (42 kWh) and Tata Curvv EV Accomplished X55, please rank the cars.

With 90% of city driving, the move to an EV makes sense. Of the three in your shortlist, we would recommend you go with the Kia Syros as it's the most well-rounded offering as a car, and the electrical powertrain is very well calibrated. With the Kia, you can also expect a very reliable and glitch-free experience, as Hyundai (Kia's parent company) have excellent electric drivetrain experience. The Syros is also a very spacious car inside, and while the 42 kWh battery limits range, it will do just fine for your usage given that it is mostly all within the city. Make sure you have access to home charging, though, as relying solely on public chargers is not really feasible.
