Which is better to buy for city driving between Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI Turbo 1.0-litre petrol manual or 2026 Hyundai Venue HX5 1.2 Kappa petrol manual?
Since you need a city car that'll be easy to drive, we'd recommend the Hyundai Venue 1.2 petrol for its more responsive engine and lighter controls. Additionally, the Venue's seating position is high, visibility is good, and it feels a bit more modern on the inside compared to the Brezza. Sure, the Brezza's 1.0 turbo-petrol engine is more powerful, which makes overtaking and highway drives much more effortless (compared to the Hyundai 1.2), however, since it is pre-dominantly a city car with easy-of-use taking precendence over performance, it is the Hyundai that gets our vote.
Thinking to upgrade my 2023 Venue. Not satisfied with the driving experience. Should I go now or wait till diwali?
Which is better between Maruti Brezza ZXI Turbo 1.0-litre petrol manual or Hyundai Venue HX5 Plus 1.2 Kappa petrol manual?
Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI 1.0 turbo. The Brezza is the more mature and well-rounded car. It offers a more spacious cabin, a more comfortable ride and a stronger ownership proposition with Maruti's extensive service network and proven reliability. The 1.0 turbo petrol engine is smooth, refined and well-suited to both city and highway driving, while the manual gearbox is light and easy to use. The Venue HX5 Plus is a good car in its own right, but the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine feels less punchy and the rear seat is not as spacious as the Brezza's. Overall, the Brezza is the better all-rounder and the car you are likely to be happier with over the long term.
I am looking for a car that I can keep for the long term, around 8–10 years, with a budget of under Rs 15 lakh on-road in Bangalore. I would prefer an automatic with an SUV stance. My usage will mainly be a 15 km daily office commute, along with occasional highway trips. I am looking for something that looks modern, has enough space, and offers good after-sales service. A few options I have shortlisted are the Hyundai Venue/Sonet with DCT and the Renault Kiger with CVT. My main concern is whether DCTs are reliable for long-term ownership if they are regularly serviced, especially with bumper-to-bumper traffic 2–3 times a week.
Given the budget, usage and long-term ownership focus, we would recommend the Renault Kiger CVT over the Hyundai Venue or Kia Sonet DCT. A daily 15 km office commute with frequent bumper-to-bumper traffic, along with occasional highway trips, is better suited to a CVT than a DCT. CVTs are smoother at low speeds and work well in stop-start traffic. They can also be less demanding in such conditions over the long term.DCTs can be reliable when maintained properly, but they are not the ideal choice for regular stop-start traffic. Repeated low-speed crawling can generate heat and accelerate clutch-pack wear, potentially leading to expensive repairs over time. The Kiger also offers a modern design, a spacious cabin and a good feature set for its price. Renault's after-sales service has improved in recent years, while the Kiger offers strong value for money in this segment. The budget also stretches further with the Kiger CVT, allowing a higher-spec variant with some money left over. In comparison, the Sonet and Venue are positioned slightly higher, so the same budget would typically mean settling for a mid-spec variant.
Hi Team Autocar, Firstly, I wish to thank you for the advice you rendered earlier. Based on your advice, I have booked the Toyota Taisor. I now wish to ask for advice for my father, who is looking to replace his 2015 Skoda Octavia with something more compact and easy to drive. His daily commute isn't much, and he mostly drives around the city in Lucknow. His budget is Rs. 15-16 lakh on-road. I really liked the new Hyundai Venue. Is that a good choice? Could you also suggest some other vehicles in this price range?
Since your father has been driving an Octavia for a while, a good replacement would be within the family. The Skoda Kylaq is what we would recommend. The Hyundai Venue is also good, but the DCT gearbox isn't as smooth in the city. The Kylaq is compact, making it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces and easy to park and it gets a strong 1.0-litre TSI engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The seat position too is comfortable, and getting in and out is rather easy. The steering is light, visibility is good, and within your budget you can get the top-spec Prestige+ trim with all the bells and whistles.
