•11wHi Autocar, this might be a long shot. I’m working as an Associate Director on an upcoming Tamil film—a much-awaited pan-India project with a multi-star cast. We’re looking to feature a supercar in the film and would love guidance on connecting with supercar owners, clubs, or brands that might be open to collaborating on a shoot. Would you be able to suggest any supercar clubs, owner groups, or manufacturers who could help us feature a car? Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Autocar India
In general, supercar owners would be reluctant to give their cars away as they would be worried about how their precious cars would be used. Also, supercar owners are very wealthy in their own right and unlikely to be enticed with a shooting fee for their car. Your best bet would be to contact supercar dealers in your area who may have some stock in hand, and they may be willing to rent the car to you before it gets sold on.

•14wI have a 2011 BMW 5 Series and am planning to upgrade to a performance sedan. I am interested in the BMW M340i, but am not sure if it will last another 10 years because of E20 fuel, and my budget is ₹1 crore - which car should I choose?

Autocar India
All new cars sold after April 2025 are engineered to run on E20, so you do not need to worry about long‑term reliability on that front. With that concern out of the way, you can confidently go ahead with the BMW M340i. It is a fantastic everyday performance sedan and will put a big smile on your face every time you drive it.

•15wI am planning to buy a BMW M340i for long-distance trips into wildlife reserves, as I have a strong interest in wildlife. I have two concerns, one is the E20 petrol. The M340i engine is a high-compression engine and needs high-octane fuel. With E20 petrol now available across the country, will this cause any issues for my engine? The other worry is the low tyre profile on bad roads, which may lead to punctures. Do give me your best advice.

Autocar India
On E20 fuel, you don’t have to worry at all. In fact, you should be happy because the base octane rating for E20 fuel has jumped from 91 octane to a minimum of 95 octane or even higher. Hence, this suits the 11.0:1 compression ratio of the M340i’s B58 engine, and now, instead of hunting for high-octane fuel, you can use fuel anywhere, as you are now assured of 95 octane.A bigger concern are the low profile tyres, which are staggered with 225/40 R19 in front and an even lower 255/35 R19 at the back. This could be a problem on bad roads, where the tyres could be vulnerable to impact damage. One way to protect the tyres against punctures, but not guaranteed, is to pump up the tyre pressure by about 3-4PSI to make the sidewalls stiffer. This reduces the flex in the sidewalls and makes them more resistant to impact damage, but quite honestly, the BMW M340i is not a car we would take into the jungle!

•15wMy friend is looking for a fun-to-drive luxury car around 70 lakh. The car will always be self-driven, and he has a family of 4. His choices are BMW 330Li, Mercedes-Benz C300 and Audi A6. He found 330Li more engaging. Not considering the M340i due to the practicality of highway driving. Please advise.

Autocar India
Yes, the BMW 3 Series LWB is a good choice, as it mixes driving excitement with rear-seat comfort in good measure. The 330Li in particular has a punchy engine that is silky smooth and fun to rev. The Audi A6 does have the advantage of feeling a bit larger than the BMW, as it is technically from a segment above, and its higher ground clearance gives it more practicality too. However, while its 265hp engine is powerful, it is not as engaging as the BMW's.But, if the added cost is not an issue, the BMW M340i is actually the best choice. Yes, ground clearance isn't as good as the 330Li, but then it has a shorter wheelbase as well, which makes it more manageable. With a little care, it can be driven on highways with minimal issues, so if your heart is set on it, go for it.

•17wI have shortlisted the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Coupe and the BMW M340i. My yearly driving will be about 8,000 km. I want a proper ‘wow’ factor in the car. Which would be the better buy?

Autocar India
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe AMG 43 is substantially more expensive than a BMW M340i, and it certainly delivers the 'wow' factor that you're looking for, in terms of its design both outside and inside. So there's no contest between the two. If you're comfortable spending around Rs 1.15 crore for a GLC Coupe, go for it. On the other hand, while the BMW M340i won't 'wow' you in terms of its looks or interior like the AMG, its 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol's stonking performance will surely leave you grinning, and for about Rs 30 lakh less than the GLC Coupe, it delivers unmatched value.

•17wHi, I would like your advice based on my usage. I want to upgrade my garage to two city cars and one highway car. My current city car is a Swift diesel AMT with a usage of 1,200 km per month, and my highway car is a Kia Seltos with a usage of 1,000 km per month. I now want to replace both cars and get two EVs for city use, namely the Tiago EV and the Sierra EV. For highway use, I am looking at the BMW M340i because it has adaptive suspension. Do you think it is comfortable for long highway journeys? Please suggest suitable cars for my usage.

Autocar India
The Tiago EV is a sensible, affordable city runabout that works very well for errands and short urban commutes, and that’s exactly how we would recommend you use it. The Tata Sierra EV, meanwhile, is still some time away – launch is expected in 2026 – but on paper it promises a strong combination of space, range and features, and should be priced competitively when it arrives. However, it’s too early to comment on how it will drive as we haven’t driven the production car yet.The BMW M340i is a very quick, engaging sports sedan that can double up as a daily driver, and the adaptive suspension has definitely improved its usability. That said, it still feels a bit firm and always “on its toes”, so it isn’t the most relaxed choice if you prioritise long, laid-back highway cruising. One of our favourite sporty everyday sedans in this space is the Audi S5; it offers strong performance but with a more compliant ride and more easy-going manners, so it’s worth considering as your highway car.

•19wHello, Autocar. I am currently in the market to buy a new car and am thoroughly confused between the M340i and the new 5 Series. I will be upgrading from a Mercedes-Benz C 300d AMG Line diesel. While the M340i has the beastly B58, the thing holding me back is that it doesn't feel like a segment upgrade compared to my current C-Class. With the 5 Series, the size and opulence make it feel like a solid upgrade, but it has pretty much the same power as my C and lesser torque. Thanks.

Autocar India
Your decision on which BMW car to buy depends on what you value more. The BMW 5 Series, as you rightly identified, is the larger and more opulent car. It is roomier inside, too, but it is essentially a model that prioritises comfort over driving thrills. The engine feels strong when pushed, but the overarching experience is that of a car designed to deliver a calming experience. The BMW M340i is the performance choice. The B58 engine is one of the modern-day greats and will thrill you for years to come. Slick handling and an improved ride with the facelift make the M340i hard to fault as an everyday fun car. Sure, it's no larger than the Mercedes-Benz C 300d you are switching from, but if driving pleasure is high up on your priority list, the M340i is easily the BMW for you.

•22wMy budget is ₹70-80 lakh and my preferences are luxury and performance. Which vehicle should I buy - the BMW 3 Series or the Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Autocar India
The BMW 3 Series in its 330Li guise offers a fantastic balance of luxury and performance. The long-wheelbase aids more room in the rear seat, the quality of materials is good, and the performance is excellent. If you are a keen driver, the 330Li will impress you, but if you also want to be chauffeured in the back seat, it can do that too.

•22wMy budget is ₹70-80 lakh. My preferences are luxury and performance. Which vehicle should I buy between the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Autocar India
If you are going to be behind the wheel more often, the BMW M340i is excellent and has a decent rear seat for occasional chauffeur-driven drives too. However, if you want a better rear seat experience, the BMW 330Li is very good too. It is almost as good as the M340i, but thanks to the long wheelbase, it gets a spacious and comfy rear seat as well. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers a more luxurious interior, but the driving experience is much better in the BMW.
