Tata Motors has rolled out the 1,00,000th Tiago hatchback out of its plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The company has achieved the milestone 19 months after the hatchback was launched on April 6, 2017.

Until the end of September 2017, the Tiago sold 93,299 units in India, comprising 77,086 petrol-engined models and 16,213 diesel versions. This means that the nearly 83 percent of total units sold are petrol variants.

Sales of the hatchback have helped increase the carmaker's market share in passenger vehicles to 6.11 percent in April-September 2017, compared to the 5.6 percent last year in April. About four months after its launch, the Tata had over 30,000 bookings and a waiting period for about 3-4 months, which led to the company adding a second shift at its Sanand plant to increase production.

Tata offers the Tiago hatchback in five trim levels with prices starting at Rs 3.21 lakh and going up to Rs 5.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available with an 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel engine. The petrol gets the option of either a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission, while the diesel comes with a five-speed manual. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency for the petrol-manual is 23.48kpl, while the diesel delivers 27.28km on a litre of fuel.
